the lumen output of the design heads and led blinders is far too little for tryin to light a roller rink. trim height is 22 feet. those fixtures would get washed out instantly by all of the other lighting. But thanks for the try

You might want to try Pulsar, or ChromaKinetics - they have some LED fixtures that have a good output. But, at that height, you're pushing a LED product quite far; why are you choosing to use LED?

Hi Mikey, I have a customer who did a roller rink using Power Spot 250's and mainly the power wash 250 and cmy zoom 250 to color the floor. These would normally be ok for 20' distances, We actually recomend 250watt fixtures for up to 35' If you wanted to use LED's the DLED 36 delivers the best light output in LED using 36 1w luxeon LED's with reflectors. Best regards, JL

Well...we do offer some LED fixtures now which have enough output to work in this type of environment - even IP 65 Rated - check out our Design Panel 72 - which has lumen output comparable to 250W discarge units in colors. Check it out... http://www.elationlighting.com/product.asp?ProductIDNum...9&cat=LED%20Lighting

Jingles, Thanks for your help. I tried what you said, and here's what I found: 1. I do have my Cycle created under the Master page, so I tried using the Live Toolbar Button. I do see the size, dimmer and speed controls, but only when I have a scene (like Blue) selected. When I click my "Cycle 1" button, the size, dimmer and speed controls disappear and are replaced with the text: "Cycle: Cycle 1". It's like all of those features are being disabled b/c I'm running a cycle instead of a scene...

Hi John, Thank you for your responses as well. 1. I tried what you said and made my chase a Scene using Easy Step. After that I was able to control the speed via the Live Button Toolbar. So, in other words, I did not need to do anything further using Easy Time. I tried it any way (yellow button making the channels Easy Time), but it just seemed to mess up my chase, so I went back to making all channels Easy Step. I notice that the F7 and F8 keys allow me to adjust the speed up and down. Is...

ok i was mixing terms then. I mean on, for example, a generic LED fixture with chan for R, G, and B... one of the buttons compu generates initially is the color pallete where you see all the colors, and can click/drag to get the color you want. I suppose this is the RGB color mixing you speak of. the generated title on the button is "RGBmix" I have experimented with seemingly all combinations of the compression buttons at the top of the page, but I will try some more to see if I can make it...

I have the same problems as well with a few Design LED 36s I just ordered. Great lights, but the standalone programs have strobing in them as well as the internal programs via DMX. Also, according to one of the paper manuals I have in front of me right now, there are two DMX modes. The first is 6 channel mode: R, G, B, Programs, Strobe, Dimmer. The second mode is 3 channel mode: R, G, B.

Oh man I can't tell you how much I laughed at that! Ok anyways, DMX, it really is a cool thing. Here are some basics. DMX stands for D igital M ultiple X . It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. Thanks SerraAva for taking the time to explain this. I guess we have been lucky the few times we have used fluorescents on our dimmers. Our neon light continues to function well without use of a special dimmer (and it is 12 years old now), but we are looking to replace it soon with some LED lighting so we can get rid of the high voltage transformer which causes noise on any electric guitars that get too close.

I despise the Magic 260. Its a pain to program on, and when you want to edit a scene, you have to rerecord it, wiping out the name which took forever to enter in the first place. An SD3 can also run many scenes or shows at once, Magic is only one at a time. Makes it very annoying when using things like movers, LEDs, and conventionals at the same time. Everything effects everything else. Its great for things like LED only or mover only shows, but any more then that and its a pain. The other...

The problem sounds like the chase is effecting the channels your strobe is on. You need to edit the chases so they only include the PAR channels. Not sure how to do it on the SS8. Look at your manual. If you still can't figure it out or you are confused, drop another line and I will try and help you out. A strobe isn't really an intelligent fix, just easier to control with an intelligent controller is all. Should see some of the crazy things I have to do. For example, I am running an all LED...

If you are running DMX 500+ feet, I would highly recommend a DMX Branch or Opti Splitter of some sort. More then 1000' and you will need one because the signal drops off at that point. An opti-splitter does more then isolate. It also helps amplify DMX signal like a DA (distro amp) does for video. The isolation also isn't for lighting strikes, it helps if you have faulty power or your console and fixtures are running off of a different ground. This can cause problems just like in audio,...

Those might be out of their price range but think im on the right track. I think once they compare the fixture price and ease of installation of the DLED12brick to having an electrician come in and pull wire for conventional down lights, the LED fixtures may win out. FWIW, they dont need color changing or strobes - just a general white light on the congregation. 12brick come as a WHITE yet?

Ok, last question before I go to bed. Since I don't have any moving head fixtures just yet it was hard to justify buying the software. However, I threw up some of DLED 36's and I can do some great effects with these that are not possible on my show designer 1. Ok tell me how to accomplish this in the real world. 1. I want to create a dimmer chase for Design LED 36's that I can save and then overlay on any of my other static DLED 36 scenes. i.e. Say I have 3 scenes programmed for my DLED's.
