Re: Design 36 LED

pulighitng ·
John and Ron , Thank you for your help on this problem. I am excited to hear that this might have a simple solution. I know that it is hard to please everyone with pre program effects but I feel strongly that this was a design flaw, and not just my picky personality trying to have my cake and eat it to. Given the time I would often write my own effects but when it comes to the people I am renting these units to just having them change colors without the strobing would make life allot easer.

Re: question about mixed lighting

mrkeyz ·
This is probably a stupid question... but since all of the lights we own are not dmx, i have to ask :P What is the significance of whether a controller is intended for intelligent/fx/par cans? For instance, why is the operator pro not capable of running par cans except on the last 8 channels? The operator pro looks like it has a street price close to some pc-controlled systems i've seen. Would we be better off just lugging one of our laptops with us and running things that way?

I guess that is what i was waiting for it is a shame that 7 of the 8 programs are bad and that is that. I will be ordering the next twenty units sometime this week only i will be going with the Colorado1 from chauvet. I have ten of this units and the feature sets and service are way better and the price is $100+ better then the design 36. I am also starting to have problems with my design 60 units and will be shoping for another brand to complete my need for 15 more units.

Thanks John. They are great little lights. The internal programs in them are fantistic. They are also very easy to set the mode and go to internal programs. They are a great price too, offering a lot of bang for the buck. I don't think I personally would ever use an Opti RGB because of the size of them. I would just rather spend the extra money and get DLED 36s instead. They are much smaller and more powerful. The problem I have with DLED 36s however, is they are dip switches unlike the Opti...

Nice, any idea what the lumen output on the fixture will be? I like the advances Elation is making in the LED segment to make them more mainstream, and also like the advances in the moving head market. The flooding of the market with different wattage movers, high abilities, and very competitive price is great, means I can do more for less and makes clients happy. A few big problems I have with Elation is shipping, product availability, durability, and quality control. Fix these things, and...

Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

Regarding your edit: Over 2 years of constant use things can get that way. My church owns a stage setter-48 and the only problems we are having with it, is the faders are starting to not work properly. Who knows, maybe you did just get a "dud" but Elation has been the best company I have ever seen, as far as quality, for the price they have! jthtiger

Hi World.. Elation guy jumping in here. in the world of consoles in general the faders and buttons you commonly use will need to be replaced sometime or another.. sometimes sooner than later. With the Elation consoles we strive to use the good components to do the Job and not the best component made.. That is why you will see some lighting consoles for alot more money than the Elation product, and some consoles for less money. We believe our consoles are a great value for the price. However...

Oh No, We have had this controller for over 10 years (i think. . .at least 7). The problem is that when you push some of the faders up to 100% it skips down to 30% and flashes around. It is kinda hard to explain. You push it up and it hits 100 then jumps back and forth between 30 and 100. Does that make sense? We just need another one. About the 192 not being satisfactory, you would have fast control over lots of faders. All you would do is it one button, and then change the faders. There...

Those might be out of their price range but think im on the right track. I think once they compare the fixture price and ease of installation of the DLED12brick to having an electrician come in and pull wire for conventional down lights, the LED fixtures may win out. FWIW, they dont need color changing or strobes - just a general white light on the congregation. 12brick come as a WHITE yet?

Hello, ybravo. i really like he design spot 575 cause you have so many features on it. for instance 2 rotating gobo wheels is almost unheard of on a 575 in that price range, CMY, animation wheel. i would say from a programming standpoint you could do more with a design spot 575 then a power spot 575. and i have not heard of the power spots coming in white. i'll look in to this for you. sincerely,

Have you looked at the Opti RGB with lens kit? This might be an option since it is cheaper then the DLED36s, with the lens kit. Here is another idea, look at the Opti 30 RGB. You should be able to get between 10-15 at that price range. You can use those 10-15 Opti 30s to replace the DLED36s for your back drop wash and move the...

That would be great if you could post the pics! I think I might go with either a TriBrick or a TriPar. I can't really go with anything less bright on my backdrop. I might keep my DLED 36's on the backdrop and just buck up and pay for the TriPars or TriBrick's for my wash. I am going to borrow a TriPar can and compare it to my TriBrick and DLED 36. I might even get a Colorado 3 since it is in the same price range.

Ok, I found what I believe John is talking about. http://www.nicolaudie.com/main.php?id_page=28 It is the same list price that he stated. Re: Newbie Question!

For front light at smaller venues, I would lean more towards LEDs vs Par 64s. Par 64s can be lamped 500w, 600w, or 1000w. That is a lot of juice, and at smaller venues, power is often an issue. Check out the Opti 30 RGBs or the new Opti 30 Tri. If that is out of your price range, would look to the P64LED Pro like jingles said. For moving heads, again, DS250s are great fixtures. The might be out of your range however, so a Power Spot 250 would be a cheaper, yet still great quality alternate.

You can use Elation's Compu 2048FC+, which like jingles said, is a whole brand new controller unto itself. The other much more expensive option would be WYSIWYG Perform which is extremely compliacted and most likely out of your price range by a large margin. Price is $4,175 for 12 months worth of upgrades and another $995 a year for a once a year renewal to keep it up-to-date.

I've often been waiting for someone to ask this question and I'm actually surprised no one ever has. where do i start. A Fazer is basically a fog machine. Fog machines need to heat up for 15 minutes this incorporates a heating element that create your fog/haze effect. We don't actually call this machine a hazer. however many other manufacturers consider them Hazer because they provide a continuous amount of Fog/haze without the big blast of smoke. So these are considered heater based hazer...

I can handle that. It sounds like the Fazer X-310II might be what I'm looking for. Use an Antari water-based fog fluid. OK, again, I'm good. Now, I do have questions still. I think right now, LED technology is maturing in two ways. First, trying to make LED performance on par with incandescent technologies, and second, making it affordable. Of course affordable is a relative term. Elation is no doubt the pricier brand, but you're getting more for more. I think the answer is that I'm sure Elation and ADJ are working on this. The 64 LED Pros that I have took some learning curve with some trial and error to find out how to best use those. While I like mine a lot,...

If that is the case, then they would be cheaper then an MSD 250 and closer in price to par 64 lamps. As much as I hope is the case, I just don't see it working out that way. Philips would completely under cut every other lamp they have out right now and make it pointless to buy anything else then, shattering the bigger half of their business for entertainment lamps. MSR 575/SA2 DE are some of the most expensive arc lamps though.

That's because you can't. An alternative option would be to assign all your reds to a single DMX channel, your greens to another and blues to still another(repeat as necessary). If this works for your situation, you're done. Sorry if that's now what you're looking for as far as an answer is concerned. To get the functionality you need, it requires a step up in price.

Well, try this: Rapidly move the faders full up and down many times. Do this to ALL faders. How old is this fixture and what sort of use/abuse has it seen? Does this live in a rack? Does it move covered? How often do you use yours? Another idea is to use Caig's De-Oxit to spray into the fader(under the fringe, use the straw) and repeat. Short of that, the Radio Shack TV Tuner cleaner works good as well. Spray a little bit and move the faders a lot. If using the Caig's De-Oxit, it comes in a...

While you're getting 100% draw out of the dimmer pack, you're not delivering 100% to some of your fixtures(probably).
