Re: dmx profiles

elationpro ·
Hi Gary, You wouldn't need a profile for a dimmer packs. Dimmer packs are generic and don't have any special values, say colors or gobos or prisms. All you need to do is go to the generic page and use a par 56 or par 64. So if you have a 4 ch dimmer as you do with the dp-dmx20l you will use a par 56 then say you have 4 units. If you have a 12ch dimmer say like the Elation RMD-1210 you will use a par 56 and then put that you have 12 fixtures.

no on the op u have 30 banks of 8 scenes each. and 12 chases that can hold up to 240 scenes. so basically u cna have 1 chase full to the max of 240 scenes which is like putting every scene u can record on the operator into a chase. so let me break it down even further for ya. u cna store any scene as many times as u want and in any order u want in a chase as long as don't go over 240 scenes but u can also continue on ur chase into the next one. i have done that and it works fine. do u know...

Re: Help with buying the best controller

elationpro ·
12 par 64, 4 trackspots and 3 martins, puts you at 19 intelligent fixtures and 16 conventional fixtures. It sounds as if you buy the operator, you can get away with using the operator and nsi 6128 and not use the universal controller. Or if you want to go with one board, you will need the SHOWDESIGNER 3. If that to big, you may want to consider Compu 1024EC. Not many consoles offer controll of 16 par cans with moving lights.

Re: Design 36 LED

That just explains channel issues, not the strobing with internal programs and stand alone. The revision of the manual is from 12/06, and the 7 channel list is from 5/07, so the manual has yet to be updated for 7 channels or 6 channel lights are still being made/sold. What I stated is merely what was in black and white in front of me and what was sent with the product. It is also quite possible that PU lighting has an older, 6 channel version of the light and not the 7 channel. I know that...

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

Jingles8302 ·
hello lemon! welcome to the forums. i think the problem your running into is the magic 260 controls only 16 channels per fixture. so if u want to run all the octopods as individuals you would have to buy more pixel drives in order to achieve this. because to control one set of octopods individually u would need a console that allows up to 48 DMX channels per fixture. u see the pixel drive and all 8 pods are considered (as far as your controller is concerned) as 1 fixture in the DMX line.

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

lemonjello ·
thanks for your reply, so far I can control all 8 pods on one "fixture" second group on 2nd "fixture". is there any way to assign one pod to one fixture? the magic has 24 fixture buttons so theoretically could it be programmed channel 1-6 as fixture 1; 7-12 as fixture 2, etc? it seems pretty logical. According to dmx language or does the pixel drive override this? in 48 channel mode it allows for this, 6 ch per pod. Anyone else with experience or info?

I have invested heavily in elation and my main complaint is that I feel that the customer service needs help. I like where they are heading but I am unwilling to continue with this years spending until somehow I feel that they are improving or are at least willing to listen. I know specifications are subject to change but I have had two times where I ordered two sets of lights as little as one month apart and received two different versions. This makes building systems of like units harder.

Thanks SerraAva for taking the time to explain this. I guess we have been lucky the few times we have used fluorescents on our dimmers. Our neon light continues to function well without use of a special dimmer (and it is 12 years old now), but we are looking to replace it soon with some LED lighting so we can get rid of the high voltage transformer which causes noise on any electric guitars that get too close.

There is a way to do fade/no fade using the Midi controller. You can either do it with the virtual controller on the screen, or have an external one. Unfortunately you cannot use a single button to turn the fade on and off with the virtual board, you will have to use 2 buttons, or one of the faders on the board. You can use one button for On/off using the external board because it will latch when you press the button. To set this up... 1. launch the midi controller on the screen. 2. If you...

No you cant split the function of a dmx light. either has to be dmx or stand alone. and also do not plug in a DMX light to a dimmer pack EVER. you will ruin the light. the chips and such cannot handle being dimmed in that way. so if you have a led or two at about 6 dmx channels that will use up either 6 or 12 channels on that board. read the PDF and see if it makes sense in there. ok? let me know if you have any more questions after you have read it. If the space is small, the X310 will have no issues hazing the room out at about 10%. Running at 10% constantly, I have ran the machine for as long as 12 hours and used maybe a quarter of a tank, so he won't run out of fluid fast. Even running at 100%, it still takes a couple of hours to burn through the tank. The X310 is very efficient in its use of fluid.

You can use Elation's Compu 2048FC+, which like jingles said, is a whole brand new controller unto itself. The other much more expensive option would be WYSIWYG Perform which is extremely compliacted and most likely out of your price range by a large margin. Price is $4,175 for 12 months worth of upgrades and another $995 a year for a once a year renewal to keep it up-to-date.

Have you tried resetting the fixture via the console and/or on the fixture itself? Every once-in-a-while a fixture will do that on me and a reset fixes it. Also, which console are you using? It might be an issue in the profile if it is doing it across more then one fixture. Are you using an old DS250 profile by chance? The old DS250 was at 0% intensity when channel 12 is at DMX value 15 vs 0 for version 1.3 and the DS250 Pro.

Ice Packs in theory should work, but like you point out, not as large as a surface area to work with. So they might not be as efficient. The fog juice needs to heat to become fog, otherwise it won't turn into fog and just remain a liquid. The fog actually comes out and into the ice bucket and then out the front. You can open the top and see what is going on. To get it more sideways, get a/some fan/s. We have a bunch of little 12" fans and some large box fans for bigger spaces. Just note,...
