Re: DMX Operator 192

djinsomnia ·
Oh ok makes sense now. Now this is a new question, I have 5 lights right. So lets say I hook up all 5 lights one way at one event. I assign the pan/tilt channels to the joystick. Now if I move the setup around, and the units are running under different #'s, do I have to re-assign the pan/tilt to the joystick again?

Re: Wireless DMX problem

northernlights1 ·
I had an issue with the our Elation WDMX . We was doing a tent job and had 4 receivers in the air . We had issues getting all receivers to work . It intermittent and random . Sometimes it worked then it would not . We ended up running DMX cable . Back at the shop we determined the problem was specific to the Leprecon LP624 we had used . The WDMX worked fine with 2 NSI , 2 Lightronics , and 2 ETC boards . I love wireless ! I found some interference with HME wireless itercom on a Cigna gig .

Re: Battery powered LED fixtures?

serraava ·
Elation actually makes a battery powered LED fixture called the Event Panel . Should be exactly what you are looking for. With regards as to how to make your own battery powered LEDs, it is something that shouldn't be discussed on open forum since someone can be seriously hurt or even worse, killed. If your not sure how to do it, don't do it. Not worth playing with your and others lives and well being. Even if you get an electrician to wire it, it still won't be UL, ETL, and/or CE approved.

As a manufacturer, I would agree... if time is an issue... you have an event this weekend and the local guy doesn't have our fog fluid, then try and get the next best thing. But as Serra said, our or any service department will blame you if your machine gets ruined as a result of a fluid. Is it worth risking your warranty? As a manufacturer, I don't know what's in other peoples fluids, so I can't say what effects it will have on our machine... So I must strongly request that you use only our...

I'm jumping into this a bit later than I normally would, but I don't normally read this forum, despite the fact that I should. I have the DMX Operator. So, I know how it work quite well. I can't say I know it 100% inside and out, but I can get around it quite easily. I need to refer to the manual for programming it because I can't recall those steps. Other than that, the DMX Operator is my buddy. It is my reliable fall back for MyDMX. Issue 1: The scanner buttons. Each scanner buttonis...

James, your explanation about DMX is right. A way (but VERY BAD and by no means recommended way) to prove this is plug it into an audio console and the channel get's constant single. Again, don't do this on purpose, you most likely will fry the pre-amps on that channel effectively killing it and/or can fry the DMX transmission device if phantom power is on. Chris, DMX constantly transmits do to its nature, not for failure. In fact, there is no error check in DMX which is the reason it is not...

No, I typed it right. The working number for the budget is $1000, and let's face it, this stuff goes over budget all the time. I have to work with some sort of number, then make adjustments up and down from there as necessary. I already know with tax and shipping, that budget will easily soar to $1200. Due to time, I'm not going to investigate the fixtures you mentioned NOW, but after my video shoot this afternoon, I'm going to revisit this thread and look closer. Right now I have to have...

OK. I get what you're saying. Oil produces better results but leaves residue. For me, that's bad. Not acceptable, due to the residue. water-based doesn't work as well but you don't have the residue. I can handle that. It sounds like the Fazer X-310II might be what I'm looking for. Use an Antari water-based fog fluid. OK, again, I'm good. Now, I do have questions still. I want DMX control, so it sounds like I need to buy the X-20II DMX module, which is definately acceptable. Just to be clear,...

I'm not opposed to having 2 machines in the long run. Short term, an all-in-one or just the hazer is fine. As I've mentioned, the producer hsa a decent pro fog machine that I'll be adding into my MyDMX universe closer to show time. It sounds like the X-310's would more than do the job. You bring up a good point though about the stage appearance. The "actors" or "cast", or rather, specifically "shadowcast" are not my main concern. The main concern is that I'm going to be shooting a BluRay on...

Snow would be hitting expensive costumes as well as set pieces. Since it is indoors, wood stage floor. Floor made from plywood and is durable and solid, but who knows how may layers of black paint they have on there! As far as loud, I'd have to have a decibel measuring for comparison. Would need ratings for both Antari machines so I can compare and contrast. At this point, the show has happened, and the dirctor and producer have opted to not do snow for the time being. Talk about stealing your soul. I was doing an event in 2007, and as thanks for the job I did, some band stole my wireless accessories(body packs, accessory cables, lavs, headworns) and then picked and chose their way through other mics(stole 2 of 4 SM57's, 1 of 2 SM86's and 1 of 2 SM58's, a Sennheiser e835, 2 of my e609's). Thanks to the stealing of the body packs and lavs and running things so tight to keep things affordable, that one act of theft cost me my entire 2008's corporate events.

James, Outstanding! I collapsed all the Pars down to one page and made sure the Speed box was checked and everything is in sync. Your response was quick and right on the mark. Great job. This is something odd, but I'll post it anways. I recently acquired 4 ADJ Mega Bar 50's, and 4 Mega Panels. The Mega Bars still provide a somewhat "round" beam, at least in distance. Close up they definately wash wide. I had a bit of a time focusing these at a recent event. The Mega Panels, despite being rectangular, do provide a relatively round "beam". Hey CodeBlue, Welcome to the forums. The event panel system does not feature built in wireless DMX receiver. It just has a Built in Ir receiver for the remote control. What wireless dmx equipment do you already own? If you already use our EWDMX-T you would simply need to add a EWDMX-R. Hope this information helps. If not please ask if you need more information. Let me talk a little out of turn and recommend MyDMX by AmericanDJ(which is under the Elation umbrella, so I'm sure I won't get my butt kicked for recommending it). It really depends on how you need to use things. MyDMX is a fantastic low-cost product, but with any low-cost product, it has limitations. Of course, working within those limitations can still provide fantastic results depending on what you want to accomplish. With support for 1 DMX universe and the full 512 channels, it's got...

Re: Question to any company owners?

I've actually heard that 10% of the total value of your gear (lighting, dimmers, truss, movers, control) is a good price to charge for equipment. That number would include labor of set up and tear down. 5% is probably a number for someone to pick up and return to you. A straight gear rental. When it comes to movers, programming of the lighting is a different fee. And the fee also changes if the programmer would be on site durring the event.

Hi strange. 1) If you are familiar with compu live then you are familiar with cycles. A cycle is like a stack list or a cue list. say you created 20 scenes, but didn't want all of them to play and wanted them to play in a set order and time. If you create a cycle and select your scenes in the order you want then you can play them back based on a set time or duration of each scene or you can have all of them or some of them trigger as a "GO" function. In the buttons tab click cycle and once...

Hi fslp1, the button on the back of the unit is a priming function and does actually output at about 150%, however it should be for priming only, it should never be used for more than a few seconds and not relied upon for actual machine usage for an event. I hope that helps clear up any confusion. Thanks!
