Re: scene setter 24 dmx channel addressing

Luis, I have tried that numerous times. Granted , it has been about 10 years since I have used DMX lighting. My last controller, An Election was a breeze to address. This is my second Scene Setter 24 in four weeks. The first one my salesperson and I assumed was defective. Now, for many years I have used XLR mic cables and I am learning that they may not work with todays new lighting components. I am assuming there is quit a difference between XLR and DMX cabling... Carl, If the steps provided did not work, I suggest reviewing the instructions found printed on the bottom plate of the controller to verify that the steps provided match the "DMX CH. Assignment" setup, which is what you are trying to configure. Also, although XLR cables are physically an exact replacement of DMX cables, we do highly recommend using DMX cables, strictly for lighting. As far as addressing these lights, considering that the Scene Setter 24 is only a 24-Channel controller, it...

You can have more than 16 fixtures as long as they will all fit into 512 DMX channels. Look at the multi-fixture section in the manual.

The program should not be crashing, we have used the new version for days on end without hiccups, let alone a crash. The latest update is Oct 16, also make sure you are using the suidi5 driver, as it is designed for the newer interfaces. Conflicts in PC's are very common, if your problems persist, send me detailed info about your system and I will look into it. Oct 16 version and new drivers

Let's see if I understand... I can have up to 6 pages, each having up to 6 scenes. "On" each page, I can have up to 16 chases. If that is corrrect so far, does that mean that I have only 6 different settings (scenes) that I can use in those 16 chases? Each chase is not unique - correct?

Hi John, Thank you for your responses as well. 1. I tried what you said and made my chase a Scene using Easy Step. After that I was able to control the speed via the Live Button Toolbar. So, in other words, I did not need to do anything further using Easy Time. I tried it any way (yellow button making the channels Easy Time), but it just seemed to mess up my chase, so I went back to making all channels Easy Step. I notice that the F7 and F8 keys allow me to adjust the speed up and down. Is...

Brian, I am really impressed on how you picked everything up. So to move forward, you can achieve the tempo your looking for by activating the Audio function in Compu Live. Step 1. In the "controller" drop down menu look for "Starting parameters". Then in the Options box, choose "Audio/Midi" and in this new window, click on the check box with the speaker icon. Then close all windows. You will be prompted to restart, and the Audio Analizer box will open automaticly. Minimize this for a...

12 par 64, 4 trackspots and 3 martins, puts you at 19 intelligent fixtures and 16 conventional fixtures. It sounds as if you buy the operator, you can get away with using the operator and nsi 6128 and not use the universal controller. Or if you want to go with one board, you will need the SHOWDESIGNER 3. If that to big, you may want to consider Compu 1024EC. Not many consoles offer controll of 16 par cans with moving lights.

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

Jingles8302 ·
hello lemon! welcome to the forums. i think the problem your running into is the magic 260 controls only 16 channels per fixture. so if u want to run all the octopods as individuals you would have to buy more pixel drives in order to achieve this. because to control one set of octopods individually u would need a console that allows up to 48 DMX channels per fixture. u see the pixel drive and all 8 pods are considered (as far as your controller is concerned) as 1 fixture in the DMX line.

Serra, My guy tested out the profiles with our fixtures, and everything worked just as good as if they were using 16 channels. When your on 16 channel mode the joy stick is not active.. so it works perfect. When you use the profile, Joy stick is engaged and you have issues. If you just bought it you should be...

I apologize in advance for the very long and off topic post I am about to post. SCR dimmers work by chopping the sine wave of AC. This is how they 'dim'. AC is a wave. DC is a line. Now when power is created, is is created by a magnet spinning in a coil at 60 times per second, thus 60hz AC. This is how and why the wave is created. The little sine wave above, the start as 0 degrees, the first peak point as 90 degrees, the next mid point as 180 degrees, and the bottom peak point is 270 degrees...

If you are running DMX 500+ feet, I would highly recommend a DMX Branch or Opti Splitter of some sort. More then 1000' and you will need one because the signal drops off at that point. An opti-splitter does more then isolate. It also helps amplify DMX signal like a DA (distro amp) does for video. The isolation also isn't for lighting strikes, it helps if you have faulty power or your console and fixtures are running off of a different ground. This can cause problems just like in audio,...

Some days it's 16, others it's 20, sometimes I can only get 6 on before the 7th starts acting up. If your last fixture in line is acting funny, and a terminator isn't helping, chances...

Frank, The Magic 260 will only run a maximum of 16 channels per fixture. Do these lights have the capability of running in a different mode with less channels? As for the "format error", make sure that you do not use any channel names more than once (for example, if you have more than one color wheel, name one as color 1 and the next as color 2). Also check all your steps and make sure that you are not overlapping any channel values. Hope this helps

This is provided the lights use binary, switch one=1, two=2, three=4, four=8, five=16, six=32, seven=64, eight=128, and nine=256. Some lights use there own 'odd' settings, like HES Trackspots for example. Both the settings for a Universal Controller and DMX are different from binary. Read your manual before you assume it is binary, or look on the back of the light by the dip switches. A lot of lights tell you what the 'code' is for their dip switches.

There is a way to do fade/no fade using the Midi controller. You can either do it with the virtual controller on the screen, or have an external one. Unfortunately you cannot use a single button to turn the fade on and off with the virtual board, you will have to use 2 buttons, or one of the faders on the board. You can use one button for On/off using the external board because it will latch when you press the button. To set this up... 1. launch the midi controller on the screen. 2. If you...

I believe your issue is that each fixture on the 'Fixture' button represents 16 channels. Since you address the lights in numerical order, the 'Fixture' buttons won't line up. So fixture 1 is really channels 1-16. Fixture 2 is channels 17-32, then 3 is channels 33-48 and so on. Try setting your first group of lights to channel 1 making them Fixture 1. Then your second group of lights as channel 17 making them Fixture 2. Lastly, your last group of lights to channel 33 making them Fixture 3.

There are 16 MIDI Channels. In order for MIDI devices to be receive and/or send MIDI information properly, the device must have a MIDI "ID", or MIDI Channel, from 1 to 16.
