Re: Roller Rink Wash with LED?
Hi Mikey, I have a customer who did a roller rink using Power Spot 250's and mainly the power wash 250 and cmy zoom 250 to color the floor. These would normally be ok for 20' distances, We actually recomend 250watt fixtures for up to 35' If you wanted to use LED's the DLED 36 delivers the best light output in LED using 36 1w luxeon LED's with reflectors. Best regards, JL

Re: Color mixing
well actually if u look around the web site a lot of them have the color mixing. here are a few of them. the power wash 250 and 575E,the design spot 575E, he power spot 700, design washes. and one or two more im sure. so u have a good array of choices from elation if u ask me. peace jingles!

Re: Color mixing
Hi Jonathan, I agree, I love the CMY color mixing feature. However this makes a lighting fixture a lot more expensive. Also, its dificult to fit all of these features in a light. So at Elation we are working on incorporating this feature into most of our lights. In the 250 range, if we incorporate CMY in a spot, it will be a bigger light, and be as much as a 575. So if you are already buying a big light, might as well bump up to a 575 fixture. The Elation Design Spot 575e, will be one of the...

Re: need to know???
Hi Jingles. When you modify a fixture in the scan library, you can mess with the unit, if you want it to project like a wash or simply be a color changing object. Its up to you how you are using it at the show.

Re: White Balance issues
Discharge lamps will always operate at a higher color temp then halogens. You need to use the color correction filter on the color wheel (if the fixture has one) and warm up the color temp to 3250k-3050k to match your S4's. What elation fixture are you using.... we don't have a product just named Color Wash. Thanks!

Thanks jingles.First of all I have 6 Power Spot 250 and 4 Power Wash 250..Is there anyway to edit that one fixture when I'm creating the page for the spots? you know, after it ask me to enter the DMX address and the # of fixtures then it takes me to the next step that asks me if all the fixtures are on and facing up. My concern is, if i edit just the center button once the page is created, the fixture s still gonna be out of sync with the other pre set cycles/scenes. The fixture giving me the...

You want to record presets.. Page 18 of the manual. I am not finding missing letters in the manual.. can you let me know what pages? CREATING AND RECORDING PRESETS Before recording a preset you must first do some preparation. In order to be able to view certain moving light channels like color or gobo you will first need to raise the dimmer levels and set the pan and tilt positions in order to see the color or gobo selections. Do this by selecting the fixture or fixtures...

we built little floor mounts for our led par196 lights, clamped one on the back of the bass amp for me (The drummer). we have 4 moving head mini wash lights that are also on the floor. there are 2 colorstrips on each guitar amp. It is a really easy setup, once our instruments and amps are in place we drop the lights and hook them up in less than 5 minutes. our next step i think is black lights.

Re: black lights
Continuing on now: The buzzing noise is known as lamp sing, it's caused by the power being turned on and off really fast. The way this is fixed is more expensive dimmers have what is known as a choke after the SCR so the power change is as dramatic as on/off. The better the quality of dimmer, the less lamp sing you will get. Now why non-dim isn't really non-dim. Despite you setting a dimmer to non dim, either via the pack or the console, the power still passes through the SCR and choke. So,...

Re: Demo Download?
Hey Jingles, Nice stage! I am wondering if you can design me a stage, that I can import into compu? I would have you build me one with lights and all, but I am looking at doing several different things with the stage, so I will add my own. I don't care about adding all the details, if you could just do the shape and layout it would be great! The stage is 45' wide, 16' deep, the ceiling peaks at 18' and goes down to 10' on the side walls. The only rounded shape is the front lip of the stage,...

I forgot to ask you about the power wash that i have i have 3 machines for the stage everytime i use the chase for the colors the color wheel of one or another gets a mix of different colors. so when i finish using the chase and i want to wash the stage with just one color.. one or two machines will give diferent colors.. i have to reset the machine get all the colors back to a regular order.. is it a signal problem or the machine itself?

Its the emmanuel baptist install. at cathedral peak the ceiling is 27'. would guess on the sides it was 10-12'. (the church with the vaulted ceiling - remember?) Wonder how much spread a PLED36 would give at that distance.... more of a wash than a pin spot perhaps.. trying not to break the bank here

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?
bdunard, Yes, a wash will be about from 40 brighter than a spot. You have a lot more light being projected along a bigger beam of light. However, that's all a wash fixture does.. color change.. but the beam of light it projects is impressive. Most rigs require a 1 to 1 ratio where you have 1 wash to every spot. So if you have 8 Spots you should also have 8 washes. But with the Frost filter of the Design Spot's it helps resolve not having to buy so many washes. Still the wash effect of a...

Is the "rainbow effect" that is listed on the elation site for the design wash 250 the same smooth color changing that I see in the video? Or is the color change in the video a carefully programmed chase? The design 300 looks great! However I don't think I can pull the trigger on a fixture that is that much more. It's a bit out of my range at this point as I see it lists for $2k more than the Design Spot 250. At the end of the day I would like to have more beams of light I think than just a...

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?
I would look into the DS 250 Wash for that effect on the cheap. It is the cheapest CMY moving head out I believe. The CMY might not be that punchy on dark colors do to the 250w lamp however. If you are really set on that effect, and it is a great effect, I would look into the washes. Remember, washes can be used for other things too. Stuff like fading in between colors for stage washes smoothly vs color scrolling which you would need twice as many fixtures to do without being seen scrolling...

I see that when I save a scene it puts a button that set of fixtures. Re: What are some other uses for moving heads at weddings?
I definitely know how important lighting is to a wedding...however it's hard to sell a mom on some lights on a band. However, I have found it easier to sell the mood of a room, their name on a gobo, a spotlight on the first dance, uplighting the backdrop or rear wall the same color as the bridesmaid dresses...this is the stuff that makes sense to the purchasers. However, I want the lights for the show! On a side note...I went to demo a design wash 250, and design spot 250 today. If found out...

Then If I liked it I shoulg go buy a more expensive version, such as the elation compu 1024EC ($600 doller model). And this package includes the dongle that will work for me? I am using 2 elation 250 wash lights and several smaller led lights. I will be purchasing other things in the near future however... fog machines, and moving bogos (elation 250 spot).

Re: Design Spot 575 VS. Power Spot 575
Lol, thanks John. I will touch on the zoom a little bit because it is my favorite feature after CMY. The reasoning is instead of using an iris to make things smaller, you can use the zoom while not losing intensity vs the iris. The zoom on the DS 575 also let's you flood the stage. This, combined with the frost filter allows you to almost make washes with them. Depending on the angle, you can actually pass this off as a wash, namely in side, high side light situations. Truly a great tool.

I think your best bet would probably to go with DLED36s since they come stock with the 39 degree beam angle. You can also get roughly 2 for the price of one DLED108. Have you looked at the Opti RGB with lens kit? This might be an option since it is cheaper then the DLED36s, with the lens kit. Here is another idea, look at the Opti 30 RGB. You should be able to get between 10-15 at that price range. You can use those 10-15 Opti 30s to replace the DLED36s for your back drop wash and move the...

That would be great if you could post the pics! I think I might go with either a TriBrick or a TriPar. I can't really go with anything less bright on my backdrop. I might keep my DLED 36's on the backdrop and just buck up and pay for the TriPars or TriBrick's for my wash. I am going to borrow a TriPar can and compare it to my TriBrick and DLED 36. I might even get a Colorado 3 since it is in the same price range.

Re: design 108
Depends on what they are fighting against. When I used them for a back wash on the set for Assassins, they were fine. In dark bars, they are also fine when using other LEDs, 250w movers, 500w\600w pars and/or S4 Pars lamped 575w or Opti Pars lamped 575w. Generally, all these things are back, side, and/or ground effects and the DLED36s light the stage just fine from the front. When pitting them against S4 lekos from anything more then 20-25', forget it. No lenses mean you can't get the beams...

I get what your saying. The problem I am running into now is if I should just go with a S4 par for the front wash lighting. If I do this I still need an LED light to add color when the S4's are off...this looks great when the singers aren't singing...you don't want them lit with a bright wash but you don't want them in the dark either. I wanted to find one fixture per side that would give me color and a good white wash. I bought the DLED 36WA but it doesn't give me a very good white. I...

Re: Global Edit of Values for One Light + Right Click to Fade
There is a way to do fade/no fade using the Midi controller. You can either do it with the virtual controller on the screen, or have an external one. Unfortunately you cannot use a single button to turn the fade on and off with the virtual board, you will have to use 2 buttons, or one of the faders on the board. You can use one button for On/off using the external board because it will latch when you press the button. To set this up... 1. launch the midi controller on the screen. 2. If you...

There are a couple more then that. You can order VL1000s with either an iris or a shutter like you are talking about. Mac 2k Performance also has shutters. There are some others out there as well. Then beam shapers are the equivalent for wash fixtures, which just about everyone has now a days. They are rarely useful outside a theatre setting, so its kind of a niche market. Always nice to have options however, like 2k Profile and 2k Performance, though I am sure a lot more Profiles are sold...

Re: Design Wash Led Question
Well, the Designs will blow away the Opti Tri. The LED 60 has 180w of LED behind it and the LED Pro has 324w of LED behind it. The Opti Tri has 54w for comparison. Size wise, the DWLED 60 only has a 15 degree beam vs the 25 degree beam of the DWLED Pro and the Opti Tri. Keep that in mind, because you will need more DWLED 60s to wash a stage then the other two fixtures. Also, the Opti Tri is using tri-color LEDs, so no color shadows. Not sure if this is an issue or not for your application,...
