Re: SD3 Playbacks containing presets, selected fixtures question

sdman ·
Maybe try using a scene instead of a preset. If I recall, presets usually require you to select fixtures ahead of time before calling. Scenes will simply include whatever you put in the scene. It's been a while since I worked with this so I don't recall every detail. It should be in the instruction manual though.

Re: SD3 Playbacks containing presets, selected fixtures question

George Webb ·
Thanks SDMAN. I just tried using Scenes instead of Presets, but Scenes seem to have a few different problems: Scenes sometimes want to cancel each other when turning them on. (Does anyone know why this is?) This makes it hard to turn on multiple scenes simultaneously. When a scene fades out, it fades its channels down to zero, rather than letting them stay at their "color scene". I thought "HTP" would allow the highest value to control the channel, but apparently it means a controller will...

Re: SD3 Playbacks containing presets, selected fixtures question

Here's a possible explanation: I noticed my fixtures' DMX channels are assigned to multiple fixtures, at least one of which is a single "32 channel DMX" fixture, which therefore contains all my 4 fixtures (7 channels each, channels 1~28). I don't know why they did that, versus setting up correct separate 7-channel profiles, but perhaps that would explain why the Scene recalls seem to be interfering with each other!? Maybe I should erase the whole console and start over? Still trying to get...

ok to adjust a circle movement: you create a blank scene and then you go ino edit and then you will click on the east time editor tab then once u do that u right click on the box that says "right click here to automatically create motion" and select automatic circle. assign how many points u want to then click ok. then once again right click on a pont in your circle and select shape properties. and then u can manaually adjust where you want the beam to stay within a certain area. understand?

Of course they are! Its all DMX it doesn't matter if there is two different dimmer packs or any of the dmx consoles out there will all be able to control anything dmx WHEN USED PROPERLY. I don't mean to be harsh, but how much do you know about your console? The fat frog is a pretty high end console, you need a lot to happen for just one slider to control one light, its very complicated. No im programming scenes for the master page. it just sucks because i don't want to have to go in and change the dimmer channel on every light in edit mode.. is there a faster way.. we do a lot of programming and we need to do it quick. im seriously considering buying a brand new console.. ive had way too many issues with this elation software.

Re: Design Spot 250 Fade Issues

The sequence should be the same. If you have scene a all lights on in the master page. Then you set new postions, and turn the dimmers down on each page, and record a new scene in the master page, you should get dimming with not strobing, again unless your using the black out switch instead of the dimming switch. i don't really see any possible way of generating this scene. What steps are you taking?

Yes, I agree with what your saying. The thing about this Compu live software is, it does not have a master dimmer like other major consoles. Using a MIDI console or a simple DMX console, like the Elation SD6C, you can use these other consoles external faders, that you can assing to the dimmers of your lights, then you will have dimming control of you softare as you would with the consoles your used to. However this software works a bit differenty than other consoles, so it does have a few...

Out of order isn't as much a problem on cue lists as one may think. As long as you label stuff and are fast, the 'Go to' button is your best friend. I did a dance concert last year with about 500 cues, and it went in a different order each night. So I named each scene and programed in blocks. Like scene one was cues 10 thru 19 with 19 being the blackout, allowing me to record pre-load cues from 19.1-19.9. Worked well. It also gave each number a block of cues that lined up numerically cue...

Re: Fading to black

chrislang ·
Its likely you're fading the DMX channel that controls the dowser/strobe effect which would explain the "instant out". If you're doing a "grand master" type of fade (all DMX channels to zero) lights will NOT fade out properly. You need to build the cue so that the other channels DMX remain at the same levels and you're only decreasing the actual DMX channel that affects the dimmer of the fixture via the dowser.

Do you have the mouse assigned to control the pan and tilt values I don't know that I have to assign values to the mouse according to the follow spot rack instruction If so, what is the easy way to do it? Sub pages are the fixture pages. Joel, to set up with the sub pages, just the use the fixture page for the dimmer packs on the house lights. I have the majority of my screen reserved for the master page, but the house box and the stage lights box are docked on the left side of the screen with just 4-5 small scene buttons each. Also, make sure your sub page for the house is not linked to the master page. Justin

Right, I link my color changers and leds to the master also. It makes it a little harder creating a scene blind in the empty mode, but you can just write down a list of some of the dmx settings for certain positions and refer to them if need be. Also, if there is a time I want my house, stage, and master page to change at the same time, I just program hot keys and they will all activate with that key. Justin

Have you checked the fuses in the packs? They might be blown. The next question is have you tired the console with other packs/fixtures to see if it is outputting? Also make sure that your master fader, preset fader, memory fader, and cross fade fader are at 100% as well, otherwise the lights won't turn on depending on what mode you are in. Lastly, make sure the blackout key isn't on.
