Re: lighting intensity and throw distance
Well, that all depends on beam size and throw distance. How bright something is over distance is can be determined by lumen's. How bright something is over a given area is foot candles or lux. Foot candles are lumen's/ft^2, so it is a more actuate method of how bright something will be over just lumen output which is based off of a single point instead of actually beam size. FC is considered old, but one FC equals 10.764 lux, though some just use a factor of 10 to simplify things. Warning,...

SD1 has FC which is factory chases. circles, figure 8's and shapes. So when one of these movements is going, you should be able to use the joy stick to move that movement to a desired area, then record it.

Jon, Just a thought on the flickering issue, but first if you are deleting your sl2006 directory, make sure you back it up! I had the same flickering issue, but found out what is was for me. If I plugged in my ShowDesginer 2cf in the DMX run for control, no major issues with my fixtures . But when I plugged in my Compu 2048FC+,almost everything flipped out. I had a MAJOR flickering issues, it made all of my LED's, Macs 250’s /300’s, and Mac wizard flash and move sporadically. I found out...

Ok, wait a minute. The release says that the unit measures 322 FC @ 16'... The DS300 measures 400 FC @ 16' and the DS575 measures 616 FC @ 16'. If the release is correct, the unit is not comparable to a 575 but closer to the 300 watt series. The lumen output of the bulb itself is quite a bit lower than the other discharge lamps in the 250-575 range. Am I missing something?

Eric is correct in that footcandle measurements use a single point since the light meters used to measure them are so small. For example, I have a flash light that puts out 17 FC but a few inches away from the center it drops to probably around 4 FC. Basically, you are looking for Lux and not Lumen or footcandles. Lux takes into account area where as lumens and foocandles don't. For example, I can have 1,000 lumens focused onto one square meter and I get 1,000 lux. However, if I take that...

Re: SD2 Factory Chases resetting presets and channel values... Please Help
Alright so... I just realized it actually wasn't the FC causing the problem. For some reason the board is glitching the Iris, Focus and many of the channels up and down 1 or 2 steps. And I think it is because I had audio going into the board, but the audio switch wasn't on. Why would audio be affecting the channel values if it isn't even on? Not to mention it shouldn't be affecting channel values at all, only chase/beats

KL Fresnel 6 Reset.
I just purchased a handful of KL6 and KL8 fixtures. They've been great for the last week but we just had one completely freeze at full on us. We've taken it down for testing and it doesn't respond to DMX or manual control. It can be seen through RDM and we can use the menu on the side just fine but the light just sits at full intensity. The other 20 we have are just fine. Is there a way to globally reset the fixture? Does it need a firmware update? Or is this our first (and hopefully last) RMA?

I'm having some difficulties getting Artnet to be enabled. While I am running Sunlight, I believe they are virtually the same and I see quite a bit more activity here than on the Nicolaudie site... please don't hold it against me..lol I an running Sunlite Suite 2 - FC so I have 4 Artnet universes available to me. DP-415 Problem
I'm using two DP-415 dimmer packs with the FC-400 4 Channel DMX Foot Controller. With two banks of 4 wash lights on each, in line. The light bank on the first dimmer pack in line suddenly stopped working on all 4 wash lights in that bank. However the power and all the signal lights on the dimmer pack are functioning as normal. FC-192 Capability?
i am considering the purchase of a DMX Operator 192 along with the FC-192 (foot controller)... i play in a band which does not have someone to run the lights. so we want the capability of switching to a new bank for each song. within each bank, we want to be able to switch scenes... i was told that we can switch banks on the DMX Operator 192 and then use the FC-192 to navigate the scenes within each bank. is this correct? thanks!

i have gotten conflicting feedback regarding the DMX Operator 192 and LED's... my wish is that we can program different colors on the same fixtures. for example, during scene 1, we want the fixture red. during scene two, we want the same fixture blue. is this programmable via the DMX Operator 192?... and can these scenes be navigated using the FC-192 (optional foot controller)? thanks!

syncing to mp3
i have compu live with a 1024ec dongle. my original plan was to use easy show to sync music and click tracks to the programmed lighting show. but much to my chagrin, i found out that the easy show only works with the FC series. is there anyway i can play an mp3 track that will sync to a programmed show with out getting the 2048FC.

Use the Operator 192 with a foot pedal?
I know that you should be able to use a midi footpedal with it but I have tried a midi foot pedal with a few other boards (DMX-44 and the Operator Pro) and not all of them work. Essentially I have a customer in a band and all he wants to do is push the pedal to turn on the LED Light show (which is just a rainbow chase)push another one for blackout and another for white. I have just received 2 'icolour' type lights (3 colour red, blue and green) and a FC-400 pedalboard. I would like to know how to go about programming. I know nothing about dmx controllers, at the moment. To start with, is there any way to get the blue to flash on its own at a preprogrammed speed / intensity, at the push of a footswitch? - it would be a nice effect to have during one of our songs. Drivers for Compu 2048 FC Dongle
Hello, I have not used my dongle since upgrading computers and to Windows 7. I downloaded Compu Show on Elation’s website with the release date of 6/7/11, but cannot find the drivers to make my dongle be recognized. SD2 Factory Chases resetting presets and channel values... Please Help
When ever I run a factory chase it always resets my presets or previous channel settings. For example: I setup the focus and iris to a specific setting I want (Tried this with presets and manual channel levels both before running the FC and after)and then run the FC, but the FC changes the values from 0-1 every step... John, Can you tell me what does the 2048FC+ pro plus interface give me over the FC? Looking at the product website descriptions line by line, I noticed that the FC+ gives +40 Art-Net Universes (Ethernet Out) versus +4 on the FC. Is this right? Or are there more added features for the additional $800? I'm trying to figure out which one would be best for me. Thanks!

Okay, So I wan't to get the new software because of its features + I wan't to have full easy view operation. They only difference i see in the FC and FC+ is an ethernet out difference. What do the ethernet out numbers mean? (eg. 4-512, 40-512 And since I won't be using the DMX in, can I use it for an additional universe? NICE!! I will try that this evening, I was shuttering about the thought of re-creating the shows scenes again.!!!! So Could I also always have the show designer connected to the "IN", on the 2048 FC, and the out to all of my fixtures all the time? And this may be a stupid question, but If I use DMX triggering, do I have to setup another DMX address in another universe to control "the action"? Or dose it just listen for the same channels I am already using ? If that makes sense?

That’s too bad! I was Highly interested in this exact function, it gets hard going to different venues knowing that you are going to have to run thru some 100+ scenes to correct alignment on performers. When do you think this feature release will happen? I moved away from my show designer 2cf, in hopes that the Compu 2048 FC+ would have these capabilities.

Djcrucial, The Dmx Operator Pro should work with most MIDI controllers as long as you can assign the proper MIDI channel and note. Is this possible on your midi controller? If so, you should be able to trigger a programmed rainbow chase as well as a white scene or chase and black out. AS for the FC-400, it's only 4 channels of dmx. How many channels do your LED fixtures require?

I currently use a Yamaha LS9-16 digital console which will route anything anywhere. I run sound for many bands and also run a recording studio. Hooking it up to a suitable output should not be a problem, but if I can't make it work at home, it will never see a live show. Until we can make it work at home, my Compu Live and 12 L.E.D. lights are just sitting at home gathering dust and we use 8 Par 38b's, 2 DMX dimmer packs, and a FC400 foot controller. I was running it on pulse. BPM seems to be a little better. Still too fast though. I want the lights to change every couple beats or every 4th beat. You could do that with the FC 400 by turning down the input. It will be a pain in the arse, but I'm going to program some sequences where the 1st 3 scenes are identical (say all blue) and the next 4 scenes are identical (say blue and green) and see if that "fools" it into slowing down the changes. Seems like a lot of work, but that's the best...

ya the screen shot has been a known problem for me at least in vista. So what i use is fraps or snag it. www.fraps.com www.snagit.com Both have free demo versions. Also the movies is a feature that will only be supported by a 2048 Fc or higher interface you are probably using a 1024EC which does not support 3D screen video capture. Sorry. Sincerely,

The absolute best way to tell is when the program first boots up it will say for example, a 1024Ec will appear in red text as a 1SL1024EC or a 2048 FC will appear as 1sl2048FC. The 2048Fc is white and the 2048FC+ is orange. And the 1024Ec is a blue color or Grey. The newer interfaces Compu show SD is white and has a mini USb connector port on the back rather than the standard printer USB port. also some of the newer ones have a small slip in the back for a micro SD card. OK, I finally got this working, with the assistance of Simon... (Thank you!) What the manual and videos don't tell me is that I had to to have 2 items in the Output Hardware list: The USB or USB/Ethernet Interface as well as Artnet. My problem was self induced because I didn't look close enough at the hardware list and had put the USB Sunlite FC interface (which I don't have) in rather than the USB/Ethernet Sunlite FC (which is what I have)..

James... The Jan 29th 2016 beta is now loaded and hardware manager firmware update applied. Both loaded without error with the firmware update physically observed loading to the dongle (cool flashing lights and alpha/numeric display "scrolling"). After loading both I completely powered down the PC then re-powered and started 2016 beta which took me all the way to the demo because the program did not recognize any dongle.
