Re: Compu Live Questions

Hi John, Thank you for your responses as well. 1. I tried what you said and made my chase a Scene using Easy Step. After that I was able to control the speed via the Live Button Toolbar. So, in other words, I did not need to do anything further using Easy Time. I tried it any way (yellow button making the channels Easy Time), but it just seemed to mess up my chase, so I went back to making all channels Easy Step. I notice that the F7 and F8 keys allow me to adjust the speed up and down. Is...

Sorry I posted in wrong forum, I just saw "Elation fixtures" did not realize it was just for moving fixtures... Anyhow never mind, I just created a new .ssl profile, and made the Dimmer channel to "DIM", and not to Snap after fade, works great now! I was told I could also change the colors of the Gels in these units, what kind of glue would you suggest to attach the new gels to the rotating frame?

Yes, I need a CompuLive profile. It uses two channels, according to the manual, one is for hazer rate, the other one for fan speed. The ma nual does not specifies the DMX value for both channels. And the main thing is it is works everytime as I hook it up to the Operator 192

Re: Using Cycles for Song Cues

matchless1 ·
John, When I say "Chase Cycle", what I mean is I have created a Cycle that contains a series of Scenes or steps (i.e. Red Scene, Blue Scene, Green Scene. etc.) in a certain order. Each step is defined as "GO" (instead of a prescribed time) within the cycle to activate it . As you know, the PAGE DOWN button acts as the "GO" command when working with Cycles. So knowing that, you helped me a while back to link the PAGE DOWN command to a MIDI note/signal through the use of the MIDI controller.

I just had a thought. You were saying that the strips flicker. Is this a steady flicker or is it intermittent? If it is intermittent this will be the norm. If it is a steady flicker then check DMX channel 3. This channel controls the flash rate and may be active. Just a thought Mark of the Wild

Re: Opti Tri Par "Flicker"

Were they shooting in 24p, 30p, or 60i? The issue might be they shot in a faster FPS mode which caused the effect. The refresh rate on the TFT vs the Plasma might have been different and thus caused the difference in view. Last thing is when you put the R98 over the fixtures, did you run the channels back up to full? Since LEDs dim with PWM (Pulse-width modulation), they basically strobe really fast so that eyes perceive them as 'dim'. If this is the case, then it would lead me to believe...

Those are ETC Source Four ParNels. Great fixtures, work like a Fresnel but are in a Par frame. Zoom range is 25-45 degrees. They also put out more light then a 1000w 6" Fresnel does with a 750w lamp, coming closer to a 2k 8". The beam isn't as soft and even as a Fresnel however. It also has less intensity do to the refractor then an 'equally' lensed S4 Par would. But since it puts out a circle and has a zoom, much easier to work with then Pars a lot of times. I still, however, use Pars for...

Well all we can say at the moment is that the E Spot is in its new stage, meaning we just started shipping them so our failure rate is set at zero. we won't know what if anything goes bad on them for a while. The concept of the e-spot is to eliminate any failures. Its a revolution of all issues that cause a unit to fail. its light weight and cool inside.. 2 of the major issues with moving lights is the intense heat inside and the weight these movers put on...

Hey Jingles, Any update on the profile for Desogn Wash 60? What about any news on the ability to change strobe rate for global strobe button? Thanks Mike

Re: Design Wash 60 question

michaelmoore ·
They intentionally made the program to be on the simple side, and not have any options for the globals. This is something they don't plan on changing, (I've asked). I do something similar to what Jingles suggested and make a cuelist with the strobe rate of my choice and assign it to a playback fader or button. It works just as well, and if you decide to get a hardware controller, mapping or re-mapping the controller to not use globals isn't that big of a deal. Hope this helps. Mike

Using 1~4 and 5~8 is a neat trick! The fact that you figured out you could use 5-8 shows that you are sharp and are really getting the hang of DMX. Scences in a chase change from one scene to the next based on (1) "speed" (the duration that each scene is on), (2) "tempo" (tap the Tap Sync button to set the rate of change), or (3) sound (press the audio button). For audio you can use either the mic built into the controller or you can connect an audio source. Control sensitivity to sound with...

Hi James. I to am having this same problem on my Mac. I followed the path but mine is not the same as what you posted. Which was: ../Users/user/Elation/emulation/Personality profiles/user My path is Users/user/Elation/ at this point I can go into Emulation folder but there is no Personality profiles folder. The folders in there are: CACHE, COLOURS, LANGUAGES, LOGS, & Midimaps folders. I can instead go into the COMMON folder instead of the emulation & there is a PERSONALITIES folder.

The problem is that everytime the show steps to the next scene, the movement in that scene step to the beginning of the movement. Can you explane what the best way is to create a moving dimmerchase, i would like to create that show with a pan or cirkel movement, because that's the best way to create an nice movement Thanks in advance Hein Hoeks

Make a chase that does what you are describing and include that chase in a scene. Try a 4 step chase that points the lights at opposite corners of the room at each of the 4 corners. Set the speed to slow and fade rate at 100%. The two lights should move along the sides. You can have them move in opposite directions or in the same direction. If you do it with 2 chases you can even run the 2 lights at different speeds.

Re: LED Flicker

The frequency at which the LED's operate. LED's dim by what is known as Pulse-Width Modulation or PWM. Basically, to get an LED to dim, it simply strobes faster than the eye can see (although some people can actually see it, like flickering on a computer monitor at 60 Hz). Cameras pick up on this though since they operate at a much lower frame rate than our eyes do. So in order to make a LED flicker free, the answer is simply strobe it even faster so the camera can't tell. This costs more...
