I have 3 sets of Octostrips installed in custom built staging, a total of 24 strips. There are 3 separate controller packs (PD-60). I am able to control each of the fixtures individually using American DJ MyDmx software, however i run into a problem when using channel 6 "audio strobe".

Each of the 3 controller packs seems to put out at a different rate. I know the PD-60s include master/slave mode however i am unable to access this menu while in DMX mode. Is there a way to sync the 3 packs so that they all strobe to the same beat? Right now, the set is just overwhelming due to 3 separate chases happening at one time, all with different color patterns.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forums EnergyP.

I don't think you can master/slave when using them in DMX mode, never heard of this option before. I think it would be a neat idea if someone discovered a way to master/slave lights with DMX control though *coughJohncough* for audio modes. You will have to manually control the strobe, or program a strobe sequence with a song you are looking for. Midi control or time code would be the best option, or you can get a Jands Vista and program with a time line Wink. Just kidding Big Grin.

I assume that the PD-60s are spread out away from each other. Try moving them next to each other and tweaking the mic level on each pack. This might work, but as to how well it will, I can't say. For extending the cable lengths on the strips, you can use regular old DMX 5 pin. I have extended ones be as much as 75' with out issue. I am not sure if Elation recommends extending them or not as well as using 5 pin DMX to do it though. Something I have just experimented with and discovered while working with Octo Strips.
Thanks for your reply SerraAva-

Unfortunately, i was pretty sure of what your answer would be. I have been placing the PD_60s next to eachother and using 5-pin cable to reach the lights for the last few shows i have used the Octostrips. Tweaking the mic levels brings them together pretty nicely, but it's just a headache when setting up a show; not to mention they are never 100% accurate in colors/strobe effect. I would have liked one less headache...but i guess i can deal with it! The octostrips really are great lights!
Hi Energy,
The Octostrips don't have master slave. I'm not sure why that feature wasn't added, but it disapointed me onces as well.

I'm not sure what controller your using, but you should be able to record a chase sequence and have your controller audio trigger the chase.
If you are working with the internal mic of the PD-60, then they will do whatever they want.

Regrading the strobe rate, it should match when using DMX.
If your DMX command is 100, then they should all strobe in unison.
Let me know if this isn't the case.
I just thought of something.. Even if the Octostrip's did have a master slave function, this function would not work if using DMX.
Whenever you connect DMX the master slave options go away.
But then again, that's why the Octostrip allows you to activate the chases by DMX, and again the chases should all sync.
Is this not the case? Let me know.
Sorry I just re read the post. Channel 6, audio strobe.
Again.. this is completely random. the minute you engage that feature, each pack is working of the beat it's receiving. so all the internal mics are going to receive different beats no matter what you do.
It would not be possible to DMX them, then master slave link them.
I have not heard of any fixture that does this.
