Hey guys, just wondering if there is a way to advance (or goto) a specific cue within a show?

I would like to split shows, so there will be a total of 16 (8a + 8b shows of 50 steps). This way I could create 16 different shows, for 16 different songs, in 1 musical set.

In doing so, I would need to jump to step 51 in shows 1-8 without triggering cues 1-50. Can I use the 'Black Out' feature to advance without it showing up on stage (in the blind)?

Thanks,
Jim

Are you asking if Elation makes a controller that will allow you to split shows? [The manual for the Operator Pro says it has "Scenes" and "Chases," i.e., it is not capable of creating "Shows."] When you say "step" are you talking about a "Scene" within a "Show?" If so, you won't be able to do that with an Operator Pro because it create a Show in the first place.

If you were to get a controller that allows you to creat shows, e.g., a Magic 260, you could create a "Show" for each song. In order to help you do what you want to do, I'd need you to explain why you would want to split a show.

Hobson,

Although my posting is a bit confusing, the bottom line is Yes I WOULD need a Magic260 to double my scene capability. On the Operator Pro, I wanted to use steps 1-24 (of one show) for the first song. Then be able to jump to steps 25-50 (of a different show) for another song; as they are not always played in squence.

As that I can not jump directly to a specific step, in a specific show (on either the Operator Pro or Magic 260) I must resort to a Magic 260 which will allow me to program 99 pages of 48 scenes. Therefore I can immediately address any of the 99 pages (each of which will be a different song) with 48 "on the fly" scene changes during that song.

I know this isn't the proper part of the forum...but on the MAGIC 260, the MASTER DIMMER will ONLY change the INTENSITY channels of a fixture. This is GREAT and what I need. When creating a GENARIC Fixture from scratch, how do I tell it which is the INTENSITY channel?

Thanks,
Jim
Jim,

In the magic 260 software provided with the unit you specify the number of channels a fixture uses and then specify what each channel does. You can also specify which channels will be affected by the master dimmer. You save that profile and then load it into the Magic 260.

The master dimmer will affect only the dimmer function of all of your fixtures.

BTW: The Elation support guys are good about making profiles for you - for whatever controller you use - even if it is not an Elation or ADJ fixture.

Thanks Guys!

Jingles,
I prefer the hands on approach where I can 'punch' up a fixture or scene on my desk and it immediately appears on stage.

Hobson,
Yes thats what I was wondering. I know in the SD2 its possible to assign specific fixture channels to the master fader (black out fader) while others are left untouched (like P/T), but wasn't sure about the MAGIC 260 (cause the user guide doesn't mention it) capabilities.

I might have a line on a SD2 that's cheaper then a MAGIC 260 ... if so, think I'll grab it...the advantage the Magic Desk has is its 4 dedicated On/Off punch up buttons (great for pulling up the MC's spot, controlling a followspot, or triggering house lighting ~ with multiple DMX dimmers).

Yet I suppose that if I make the last 4 scenes on each of the 99 pages on a SD2 to independently control these 4 devices, it would, effectively do the same function.

But HAY, a slightly used SD2 from this church (it was a back up board) for $!!! clams instead of $!!! is a steal! No pun intended. LOL
