Re: Roller Rink Wash with LED?
Well...we do offer some LED fixtures now which have enough output to work in this type of environment - even IP 65 Rated - check out our Design Panel 72 - which has lumen output comparable to 250W discarge units in colors. Check it out... http://www.elationlighting.com/product.asp?ProductIDNum...9&cat=LED%20Lighting

Re: Compu Live Questions
Hi John, Thank you for your responses as well. 1. I tried what you said and made my chase a Scene using Easy Step. After that I was able to control the speed via the Live Button Toolbar. So, in other words, I did not need to do anything further using Easy Time. I tried it any way (yellow button making the channels Easy Time), but it just seemed to mess up my chase, so I went back to making all channels Easy Step. I notice that the F7 and F8 keys allow me to adjust the speed up and down. Is...

Re: Compu Live Questions
Brian, I am really impressed on how you picked everything up. So to move forward, you can achieve the tempo your looking for by activating the Audio function in Compu Live. Step 1. In the "controller" drop down menu look for "Starting parameters". Then in the Options box, choose "Audio/Midi" and in this new window, click on the check box with the speaker icon. Then close all windows. You will be prompted to restart, and the Audio Analizer box will open automaticly. Minimize this for a...

Re: Compatibility Issue solved.
Mike, This might be a stupid question but have you addressed the units and the dimmers so that they overlap addresses? Dimmer DMX address 1 along with one of the scans If they overlap they will act like they are carping out when you use an attribute in a moving light. Dimmer unit 1 address =1 Unit 2 address=5 scan 1 address =9 and scan 2 address=15… The magic 260 will allow you to chose what the start address is for each fixture.

Re: Stage Pak 1 how to set up?
Oh man I can't tell you how much I laughed at that! Ok anyways, DMX, it really is a cool thing. Here are some basics. DMX stands for D igital M ultiple X . It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. There are 2 ways (that I know of) that...

Re: Stage Pak 1 how to set up?
on a side note. your spot 250 uses 6 DMX channel and the vue 3 uses 9. 9+6=15 DMX channels total. so you only have room for maybe one or two pars on the stage setter 8. might want to look into a bigger controller. like jthtigers DMX operator 192.

Re: Compu live Dec. 21, 2007 version; movie record error
Thx for the info. I have the compu club blue unit so I guess I am out of luck on this feature, WILL THE DEC 2007 VERSION FUNCTION ON MY COMPU CLUB BLUE I/0? the Oct 2006 version worked fine with it. also it seems like a bad decision to restrick recording unless your dongle is connected when you allow us to create without the dongle thus I don't bring it home which is where I do my configs, again I create files at home for client/venue and the interface stays at the venue.

Re: black lights
I apologize in advance for the very long and off topic post I am about to post. SCR dimmers work by chopping the sine wave of AC. This is how they 'dim'. AC is a wave. DC is a line. Now when power is created, is is created by a magnet spinning in a coil at 60 times per second, thus 60hz AC. This is how and why the wave is created. The little sine wave above, the start as 0 degrees, the first peak point as 90 degrees, the next mid point as 180 degrees, and the bottom peak point is 270 degrees...

Re: need help urgent
Abhi, Don't sweat it. you don't need a personality.. especially if you don't know what light you have. use 32 DMX channel fixture. It will give you 32 channels to use, but you only need to use 2 of them on 1 fixture and 9 channels on the other. From this point all you need to do is modify the fixture, and say it only uses 2 channels or 9 channels.. and you can rename the fixture to the name of the fixture you actually have. This is the best way for you buddy, Best regards,

Re: DMX Programmer Question
I think I've got it figured out now. I believe that Fade drops all active channels to 0 (EDIT: for black that is; Fade transitions to the next channel values otherwise). Unfortunately I just picked up some Chauvet Colorstrips and their RGB mixing requires channel 1 to be at 210-219 and then mixes RGB values on channels 2-4. EDIT: So, from black it has to fade through programs on channel 1 (I haven't tested, but I believe having black w/ channel 1 @ 210 might be ok for in between steps, still...

I just tested a Magic-260 with a Design Spot-250 and was able to program a fade out. To program a fade out, set your dimmer to zero (0), add your desired fade time and save it to a desired page/button location.

Re: Global Edit of Values for One Light + Right Click to Fade
There is a way to do fade/no fade using the Midi controller. You can either do it with the virtual controller on the screen, or have an external one. Unfortunately you cannot use a single button to turn the fade on and off with the virtual board, you will have to use 2 buttons, or one of the faders on the board. You can use one button for On/off using the external board because it will latch when you press the button. To set this up... 1. launch the midi controller on the screen. 2. If you...

Set the second DP-415 to start reading at channel 5 3. Set the first group (Back wash) of Color Wash light to read channel 9 (Master/Slave mode) 4. Set the second group (Back lights) of Color Wash lights to read channel 13 (Also Master/Slave mode) Is this right? Am I even close?

You should have no problem transferring to the new console and not have to rewire and readdress your fixtures. The extra universes are in case you need them, meaning more then 512 channels of lighting, or can make your life easier at times. For example, if you have lights at one side of the room and lights on the total opposite, instead of looping them all together, run one DMX line to one side and another to the opposite side to save on cable and stop possible issues that may arise. As for...

Re: Scene Fade Suddenly Not Working
John, My Page Settings were correct...Fade option was checked on every scene. I eventually determined that the problem had to do with my fixture patches, and now I have a new (bigger problem): I am totally baffled by how patches work in CompuLive. It seems that every time I open a different show, then try to open the 3D viewer for that show, it says the patch has changed, then it asks me if I want to update automatically. I've had the system for about 7 months but have really only used it for a major show last April and am gearing up for the use throughout the school year. I am the fine arts director and technicians and ...... for a 9-12 high school. For our show last year the flickering happened very randomly but I thought it might because I was loading my dimmers pretty heavy. I just started to fire everything back up again this past weekend and the lights are just on a on or off setting for church use.

Re: Understanding the DMX Operator
Yes that's correct. and DMX is really a constant data stream anyways. there is a certain series binary of code every time the faders moves up or down to any given value and even a "0" value code. which is why you still get a dmx signal even though all your channels are at 0. make sense? but there is no need to think of it at that grand a scale for you yet. haha. Never seen anyone ask that question before. ha. disclaimer i am not a DMX expert so if anyone finds a fault in my explaination...

Re: operator 192
Well, Correct me if I am wrong but that board is mainly for intels. you don't need to setup a fixture profile for dimmer packs they simply dimmer (0-255) the dip switch need to be setup for channel for ex if you want dimmer pack one to be channels 1-4 set it as ch 1. if you want dimmer pack 2 to be 5-8 set it as 5. also there is probably a way to make it run on 1ch 2ch or 3ch. if you want ch1-4 turn all dip switch to off. Also note this is not a DMX dimmer pack. it is an NSI Miroplex one...

COLORKEY LED Par 64 10mm V2 6 channel dmx and Deliya par 64 led 4 channel dmx. One at a time does the same thing. Singularly on a 2 foot DMX cable from the OPERATOR. Ive run speed and fade variations during and after playback still the same.It slows down even more when fade time is set to 0. It has an uneven strobe effect if fade is above 0. I am seeing about 15-20 fps when in program mode. I then either record the scene and remove the program button and the speed slows down to about 5 fps.

James, Thank you for the help. The manual has no description of the DMX traits. If I could have an OM button with sliders 0%-100% for each of the 5 channels that would be quite helpful. I am still only on page 39 of the manual, so I don't yet know if this is possible, but a few specific color buttons (like that on the X-Scan page I added) would be over and above. I would understand if this not possible, because I suppose I would RGB the colors myself with the sliders and save the scene "as I...

Re: DS250 v. DS250 Pro
Have you tried resetting the fixture via the console and/or on the fixture itself? Every once-in-a-while a fixture will do that on me and a reset fixes it. Also, which console are you using? It might be an issue in the profile if it is doing it across more then one fixture. Are you using an old DS250 profile by chance? The old DS250 was at 0% intensity when channel 12 is at DMX value 15 vs 0 for version 1.3 and the DS250 Pro.

Cool, i wasn't sure that would be something they would share or not. If I can test it and know it works I will spend the money to get a 50 foot cable. example would be on the male end pin 9 goes to pin 5 on the female end for (ground or power ect..)obvoisly a computer cable won't or and I have a cable from a competitor that wont work because it is pinned different intentionally. Thus I don't even know if the controler works becasue power is ran from the relay pack.

It also features a blue LED fluid indicator, as soon as fluid levels are low it starts to blink telling you to add more fluid.
