Re: Compu Pro 06
The program should not be crashing, we have used the new version for days on end without hiccups, let alone a crash. The latest update is Oct 16, also make sure you are using the suidi5 driver, as it is designed for the newer interfaces. Conflicts in PC's are very common, if your problems persist, send me detailed info about your system and I will look into it. Oct 16 version and new drivers

Re: Need help w/ DMX Operator
Sounds like you may have had a power surge that may have damaged your DMX driver chips. It could be the lights only or the controller only or both. Do you have another DMX controller to test?

Re: Need help w/ DMX Operator
I know nothing about circuitboards & parts but damaged DMX driver chips sounds really bad. If it was the chips, how bad is it? Would I be better off sending it in to have it serviced or should I just buy a new controller? I didn't even think of checking the lights themselves to make sure nothing had happened to them. I'll set the lights to auto/sound mode & see if they're ok. Looks like I'll have to look into better surge protection and borrow a friends controller to make sure the...

Re: Need help w/ DMX Operator
Hi DJ, Yes it could be bad. If the DMX driver chips are damaged, then they will still work sound active. Try using your friends board and a light also to see if both your lights and controllers work. If it is DMX drivers, then you will have to send it in for service. No other way around it. Elation makes this device. DMX Branch 4. It is created to supress over voltage to the DMX signal. Once overvoltage goes through the line it takes everything out. However most people don't sell this or...

Re: Vision scan 250
I believe the front cover of the light is held by 4 screws. These are special 1/4 turn screws that allow the light to easily be opened for service or gobo change out and maintanence. Just get your self a philips head screw driver.

Re: RSER message
Hi Evolution. RSER This message informs you that one of the fixture function wasn’t able to do its reset correct (magnetic sensor, stepping motor, driver on the PCB, cables, etc.). Repair the defect and start the fixture again. When a fixture starts up, it goes through a calibration process to make sure all system are good. It tests every motor to make sure it works. So the light has a color wheel motor, gobo wheel motor, shutter/dimmer motor, pan motor, tilt motor etc. etc. One of these...

actually jthtiger we tell all of our sales guys to spec. in a DMX opto branch for almost every rig they sell. why? cause it is always best to have your lights electronially isolated. say there is a big thunderstorm that hits and lighting strikes the building im willing to bet you that one of the first things to fry out would be the DMX driver chips in the lights cause they were not isolated. think of it as a surge protector for DMX. snakeman welcome i agree with what jthtiger said i was just...

Re: Compulive works, but no output from Dongle, Please help!
You know, I looked all over the place in the new user manual and could not find a disclosure. Past user manuals had this, and It should be in the current user manual. Please read carefully the following preventive measures carefully: 1. Place a DMX insulator between interface and DMX fixtures (e.g. DMX branch 4, Opto Branch 4) in order to protect them both from any interference and from overvoltage. 2. We advise you to have an available spare RS485 driver IC. This is an 8 pin electronic IC...

Re: Newbie Question
Hola Petter, Our Elar fixtures are either 24 volts. You can use any power supply that will give you 24 volts. what you need to be sure of is the wattage. This varies on the qty of fixtures you will use. The ELAR DRIVER 3 is not available. we have the ELAR DRIVER 1. The ELAR DRIVER 1 give you 3 channels of DMX. So you can connect all 6 ELAR 4z04 to 1 ELAR DRIVER 1 and they will all change together. Or if you want to control each one seperatly, you will need 6 ELAR DRIVER 1. The ELAR DRIVER 8...

Hi again and thanks for the response. I will propose to use the "ELAR-DRIVER-8" for the project, but I have another question about the programming and control. I read that "ELAR-DRIVER-8" has compatibility with DMX 512. With this "ELAR-DRIVER-8", do I need to buy a DMX Operator or some Control Panel to do the programming and the change of color? or I have to use some kind of software to program this device and put on "Stand Alone Mode"? I will be waiting for your quick answer, thanks a lot...

Re: Opto Branch
It all depends on the type of voltage being passed through the cable. If it’s low voltage say 8-40VDC, you’d probably never experience more than a single driver going out. If it’s high voltage, then there is a chance that both drivers on the same output could go with the possibility of losing other components within the output circuit.

Re: Driver for USB DMX Box
Hi Jason, This symptom usually sounds like the DMX Driver in your interface is no good. You may not be using an OPTO isolator for protection. You can buy this chip for $10. - $15.00 to replace it or send it in for repair. However i would 1st recommend downloading the NOV 4 edition of compu live using the line Norona posted. This edition installs the driver together with the software, so they are always in the computer. If doing this does not solve you issues, then your interface would have...

These are 2 responses. I am nut sure what to tell you. Dylan is using a MAC BOOK with Windows installed and it seems to work but our products are PC compatible and I cannot guaranty they work perfecty on MAC system. We have had this problem before. Basically, for some reason, the Parallels has USB driver problems. For MAC we only reccomend using Bootcamp and less recently, Fusion. Parallels has never worked properly and consistently with our products. Hope this helps.

Re: Weird behavior
Like John said. the dmx going out of the dongle can be weak. the opto branch boost this signal and stabilizes and optically isolates it per output on the optobranch 4. This is really usefull as now you can run four dmx lines if you ever need to split you rig up and also if a surge or power failure ever occurs nad a spike gets sent down the dmx line it will only take out the DMX driver chip in one of the outputs on the opto thus saving your dongle. And after that you still have three outputs...

Re: Trackball use with DMX Programmer?
Chances are, it's just a serial port that has a generic mouse driver associated with it. I would say that if you're using a basic trackball, mouse, touch pad or any other controller that uses a typical 2-button mouse driver, you should be fine. Not a fan of trackballs myself, but I certainly see the advantage of a compact space. The rest of what you should need to know should be in the manual.

Re: Want to be notified of new compu software and interfaces??
what i am saying for those of you that need a 64 bit version of the interface will have to upgrade to the new interfaces that will be out soon. The drivers that are required to run the software and have it detect your current USB to DMX interface will never work with a 64 bit OS. Our developers had to make a new driver and that new driver will only work on the new interfaces. Understand? Or do you have more questions? Sincerely,

Re: Design Spot 250 09Er Error Code: Prism-Wheel Error
Gines, I tried everything you said. The magnet was still present (looked just like the one on the good light), but I decided to try swapping them anyway. After the swap, both fixtures behaved exactly like they did before. So, I know the magnetic sensor is good. The harness going from the sensor to the PCB is basically impossible to really trace back to the PCB b/c all the yellow, brown and orange wires are tie-wrapped with many other sensor wires (of the same color) going back to the PCB.

James, I did do everything listed in the PDF. I got to a point where it said the driver was not digitally signed and wouldnt let me go further. I actually got around this and shut of that option in Vista. I got the driver installed, but it still would not show up in the software when I launch Emulation. In otherwords I am getting no "version" and the cue cable is not showing up under hardware.

If you know someone who has a mac, you should try the cable on their computer. The mac installation doesn't require any drivers. You just drag the install into the applications directory, plug in the cable and you are good to go. That will let you know if the cable is good, and assuming it is, it will narrow the problem down to a windows driver problem. Hope this helps, Mike Intense Sound & Lighting
