Hello, I am still having this problem! I use Windows 7, and I'm using an RS-232 to USB connector. I can't get either the board or the computer to acknowledge each other in any program (backup or monitor) and when I use monitor I get the same error message. Is there a help guide or something I could use? Thank you!

The com port on the SD is the same pinout as a PC so you must use a null modem connector or cable that swaps pins 2 and 3. Otherwise it's as if you are trying to connect 2 PCs together where TX is connected to TX and RX is connected to RX.

Ken, do you have a link or picture so I know what you're talking about? I'd call myself an "intermediate" computer user, so I know stuff like how to open DOS and how to replace a HDD, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "swapping pins 2 and 3." Also, I'm using a Macbook 13 running Windows 7, so is there a specific cable I need that would work better than the one I have? Like I said before, links and pictures would be super helpful for me.
