Hi,

I have Compu Live 1024EC installed on my workstation (running XP).
Every Runs fine. I then swap my USB connection to my laptop ( A Centrino Duo
– Also running XP) and problems occur.

Symtoms on the laptop:
Movement and color is ok for a bit and then eratic behavior starts.
In my case (with my Dynasty Scan DMX’s) the gobos don’t stay
selected… i.e. they start to rotate quickly on it’s own even though I did nothing on the laptop compu live.

Any Ideas?

Hi,

I've got a terminator and the distance is real short. Two computers - one works, one doesn't.

The Laptop is not running on battery - It's plugged in. I've also played with power management (made sure it didn't try to power down etc) and killed any screen savers. Killed every non essential process I could think off. Spent all night messing with it. It looks like I may have to go buy another Laptop ---darn Mad...

Hi John,

I'm running a very simple test.

1 Fixture (The Dynasty DMX),
Terminated, Short distance, Same Software, Same Page, Same Dongle.

Weird behavior on Laptop (sometimes works for while and then starts acting up again - involuntary gobo spinning). Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Compu.

I think I'm gonna go head to store to pick up one of those HP-DV1000 or 2000's which I saw folks having success with.

I don't know los jonz.
This is a wierd problem that makes no sense.

We need to see why the gobo spins involintarily.
This can be cause by only a few things.
In order for the gobo to spin, the light needs the gobo spin command.

Gobo spin command is only triggered in two ways..
1. Audio mode.. If the DMX signal is week, the audio gobo spin command could kick in and make the gobo spin momenteraly.
2. DMX gobo command.. The software would have to send the exact channel and value to make the gobo spin.

The only time these to options may change is if you somehow get interferance through the data which makes this happen.

So if its the software, I would ask if you still have the Demo pages installed, or a duplicate fixture page.

If its the light, I would ask if you have the volume of the mic sensitivity turned all the way down.

and if its the data, I would ask if you've swapped out the cable, and if your using DMX data cable.

Let me know what you find.
