I am an old school kinda lighting guy . . . never really even thought about PC based control to DMX. Looking at the Compu series and I have a few questions.

1. does it support dual monitors ? Perhaps even three monitors ?

2. will the smaller version of the software be good enough for a few movers and a few LEDs as well as conventionals on dimmers ?

3. any websites or forums specific to questions and tips and tricks on this software or are the Elation Forums the way to go for those answers ?

Thanx
Eric

hey ericwelcome to the forums! compuware is a great controler. i use it everyday. to answer your questions:
1) yes it does but u also have to make sure ur computer and graphic cards support multi monitors aswell.
2)realy kinda depends on what all ou are gonna try to do within the software. certain versions unlock certain features. i recommend 1024EC for a good starter package.
3) here on these forums is your best bet for answers and any and all sorts of questions about compuware or any elation gear. peace! and welcome! jingles. Wink
Thanx for the info jingles . . . I have been a long term Elation fan, follower, and promoter . . .

I have a new laptop and I need to test the limits . . . see what it can do ! I will post any questions and comments here . . . can not wait to get it on the budget !

another quick question or two . . . I noticed it can work with USB / MIDI controllers like the Behringer unit . . . can you use those 8 faders for "sub-masters" for conventionals ?

also will the dongle allow input from consoles and "save" scenes ? Or an I reaching there ? Use the software to save scenes like a DMX Solo - 256 ? Or am I pushing the bounderies ?

Thanx again !
hey eric sory for the late response. i was extremely busy today.
what kind of laptop do u have? what is ur o.s.? and how much ram does it have and what graphic card?
i believe u can assign those faders to any button within compuware. but i think we should wait and se what the people at elation say. but im pretty sure.
if ur dongle has both a DMX in and out u can use your console to program scenes. so for example u have ur set up in the 3d viewer but ur not around the actual lights u can then hook ur console up to the dongle and progrma using just the visualizer and it will save on ur console. kinda like programming remotely. i have done it and it works well. anything else just let me know. peace! jingles.
Sweet ! . . . I can see the "remote" programming aspect being very handy . . .

I have a laptop with a gig of RAM ( wishing for 2 gig ) Core 2 Intel processor and an ATI mobile graphics card not sure on the exacts but it is running Vista ( which I may fall back to XP . . . not real impresssed with Vista at this time )

Thanx again for the info . . .
