Good afternoon.

I am looking to buy the Compulive software and I just wanted to see if I needed to do anything special to get it to run some roboscan 812's. I also have 8 Intimidator 1.0, 16 par 38's 16 par 56's that need to be controlled. I am tired of dragging around 3 light controls!!! I just started using the Compulive software a few days ago. I've created a stage with the lights I use. All that looks fine. I haven't bought the interface yet but that's my next step. I just wanted to make sure that if I buy this stuff that it would be compatible.

Thanks.

Hi Dazzler and welcome to the forums.

Compulive can control any and all DMX fixtures as well as dimmer packs/racks. There should be no problems at all. You are only limited by the number of channels. Some features are also limited/slightly different dongle to dongle, quick list:

1024 DMX Out with Female to Female Turnaround
Basic 3D Visualizer
Midi Triggering
2 Art-Net Universes (1024 Channels)

2048FC

1024 DMX Out with Female to Female Turnaround
Full 3D Visualizer
Midi Triggering
Sympte Time Code Triggering
Internal Clock Triggering
Easy Show
4 Art-Net Universes (2048 Channels)

2048FC+

Any more questions, feel free to ask. Also, any profiles you need not included in the software, ask the Compu Guru himself, Jingles, and he will hook you up. Once again, welcome to the forums.
Thanks for the quick response everyone.

The Martins are 3 pin. I use the MLC16 to run these at the moment and I use the NSI MC-6300 to run 4 ND-4600 dimmer packs and the par 64’s.The 8 Intimidators run off a simple remote. The16 par 38’s and the dp-415’s run off of the stage setter 8 control. It would be great if I could get all this stuff to work together. Unfortunately the nd-4600’s are micro-plex. I have been told that I can get a chip to put in the nd-4600’s to run the regular dmx-512 signal. If I do that will these be able to receive both signals? The martin language and regular dmx-512? I have used the nd-4600’s for the last 10 years. They are very dependable but it would seem that they are also the problem. The dp-415’s seem decent and they are very handy as switch packs for the non dmx lights. Basically I have 2 set-ups. One for Theatre and one for bands. I would love to be able to mix it all together. From what I’ve seen in the software, it looks like it will do the trick. And with a lot less time.
If you get the chip for DMX, it should be fine to control you ND-4600s via DMX. As to if you can use DMX and Micro-Plex after the chip is installed, I am not sure. I know some of the older NSI dimmers I have to go from Micro-Plex to DMX you actually have to replace the 3 pin connectors with 5 pin connectors and physically move the connecting wires over. This might not be the case with your dimmers however.

Also be aware you can't use Micro-Plex and DMX at the same time. Micro-Plex is a powered signal and DMX is not. Plugging a DMX controller into a Micro-Plex source will fry the DMX controllers on that line. So be careful.
