Hello,
I currently am running several Design Spot 575E's and have a question regarding temperature. They seem to be running 'hot'.I know the Default setting for these fixtures is 130'C, but ours are going up to 180C(+higher) VERY quickly. I know it is possible to change the 'lamp off' setting to a different temp.,as I don't wish them to keep turning off during a show, & I know they need @least 25min's before I can re-strike them. Of course I do not want to damage the fixtures in any way. Does anyone have any recommendations re:'safe'operating temperatures? Think I'm going to change the fan setting from auto to high & hope that helps some.

Hi Luna,

Change the temperature setting from Celcius to Faranhiet so that we can understand the temperature better.

And yes, its always best to have all your fixtures running on high.
All of your fixtures should be running at about the same temperature, however depending on where the fixtures are possitioned some may run hotter than other.
The best thing to do is make sure they are 2 feet away from anything that can block the fans, or not allow good air ventilation.

A fixture mounted in a corner will not get any good cool air even if you put it 2 feet from the walls.
But a fixture in the middle where good cool air flowing will run cooler.

Also since heat rises, fixture mounted higher, will run hotter than fixtures mounted lower.

And finally, make sure all of your fans are working properly. 1 fan not working, or really dirty will lower the cooling performance.

hope this helps.
Thank you.

I had been running them on the default 'auto' setting prior to this.
I will check the fans, they should be clean, but as they have been out of their case, you never can tell. BTW- what is the best way to clean them? Should I use a cloth, canned-air, or some other method?

I do understand about heat convection & so forth & am certain that contributed to this problem, as they were mounted quite high under a tent shaped ceiling, so I def. think that would raise the temp. a lot, practically trapping hot air in that area.(For what it's worth, my advice to any other LD's reading this is to ALWAYS make sure what the ceiling shape is!)

I know that many other types of 'indoor' stage lights can be used under professional tents, as they are basically protected from the elements. however, when it comes to moving lights, what is advisable? (my background is primarily in Theatre, Dance, & rock concerts, so I am rather new to intelligent moving lights.) Should I strongly advise against using them in such a fashion? (I like them, & of course want to use them as much as possible, however, esp. being located in the South with the heat, I personally don't think it's a good idea. Am I right to insist on this?)

Also, prior to this, when I was programming the board(a SD2) one of the fixtures was running 'hot' almost immediately upon being struck. It was placed on the floor, with nothing closer than 3'(although it was indeed a corner area) (*that particular fixture I didn't send out for this event.) The fan was working at that time.

I didn't think about the circulation near the floor. Perhaps that was it. Thanks again for that, I wasn't considering it from that perspective.
