Yes, it matters that they are 5 channels a piece. This way you control each one individually or controls don't over lap.

First light: Dip Switch 1 On (Address 1)
Second light: 2,3 On (Address 6)
Third light: 1,2,4 On (Address 11)
Fourth light: 5 On (Address 16)

Dip switches are binary. So the switch values are as follows:
1=1
2=2
3=4
4=8
5=16
6=32
7=64
8=128
9=256

To get an address number, simply turn the switches on that add up to that number. So if I wanted a light addressed to channel 81, I would turn on switches 1,5,7 or 1+16+64=81.
