Elation Intelligent DMX interface BOX FREEZING UP, have to turn on & off???!!!

I have the elation dmx interface box, and it's plugged into a laptop via USB. Numerous times throughout the night last night, i had to reset the box(turn it off then off, or unplug the USB and plug back in) and then it starts reacting normally. Worst case scenario, I have to restart the computer and reopen CompuLive, that sucks because all the lights go crazy until i get it up and going again....what could cause the box to freeze up?!! Thanks.
