Back in August 2008, another user (Misebeam) requested a feature he called "Focus Presets". I would like to second this request, but in more detail. Below is just a suggestion for how this could work:
1. User creates new preset #1 from the "Controller" or "Windows" menu. Not the "Page" or "Button" menus because we want these presets to apply "across the board", not to only one page or button.
2. User selects the fixtures this preset will apply to.
3. For each fixture, user defines DMX values for X, uX, Y, uY, and Focus channels.
4. User saves this as "Preset #1".
5. After each preset is created and saved, the user would have a list of available scenes, switches, and cycles to which each preset could be applied, depending on the venue. The user would simply select the applicable scenes for each preset. Upon doing this, the scenes would automatically incorporate the DMX values defined in Step 3.
6. User could then save the show as "Venue 1", which would save "Preset 1" to all of the scenes selected in Step 5.
With this method, I can foresee it taking several minutes (vs. an hour or more) to adjust X,Y and Focus values for intelligent fixtures when you realize that the venue setup is not exactly like you planned (which is MOST of the time if it's your first time there).
I would not think that this is a difficult code to write into the software. I could be wrong though.
Please consider adding a feature like this in the next update.
Also, Misebeam, if you're reading, I hope I understood what you were asking for originally. If not though, please feel free to chime in on any corrections or clarifications.
Thanks,
Brian
