I've got some programming to do in CompuLive 1024EC and not much time to do it. If you have experience with this software package and can help, that would be great.
I've got about 14 DMX light fixtures. I know each fixture's individual DMX elements and how to change them. I previously programmed them using my hardware controller. I know what color, what direction, etc that I want. I need to program over 100 variations in color, gobo, etc. (total). Like I said, I did this with my hardware controller in a couple of days.
Now moving to the software control method, I find that the terminology (Scenes, buttons, switches) and structure (Pages and Master pages and step editor) aren't quite as straighforward as I would like. So, to make sure that I am doing this properly (and not in some back-asswards sequence of events), I'd like to talk to somebody that has programmed using Elation before and is sure they are doing it in the RIGHT WAY. It seems that if I can ask some questions about how I "think" it should go, maybe you can tell me if I am right or wrong. I'm basing everything I know from my old-school hardware control board.
If I am doing it correctly (so far) and creating the light show in the MASTER screen using the little sliders in Easy Step mode and that's the best I am going to get, then OK. those sliders are so small that it's REALLY hard to adjust eacch setting (I can't just type it in the little numerical window). This is a hell of a way to configure 14 fixtures for 100 different variations. I am really hoping there is a better way. I would gladly buy a hardware interface if I knew which one to buy.
OK, so you see what I am up against. Have you done this?
Thanks,
-Tom
