Jingles, Can I ask a MTC question?
For my DJ setup I use two laptops. One is running Traktor Pro, the other CompuLive. Both machines have USB to midi interfaces. The machines are connected by a midi cable. I have set Traktor to serve as the master computer and it is sending midi time code data over the midi interface. When I play a music track, I can confirm Traktor is sending the MTC data. I can see the data LED indicator illuminated on the sending midi interface. Also, I can midi interface data indicator illuminated on the CompuLive computer confirming the MTC data is received by the CompuLive computer.
I have created two test scenes, one red light and another a blue light and grouped them into a cycle. When I activate the cycle, I want the MTC to control the stepping through the red to the blue scene (and looped). Obviously I will add spice once the MTC is working.
Per the manual, "MIDI TIME CODE input is useful to synchronize a cycle with an incoming MIDI TIME CODE signal."
"For such use, make sure :
- your computer is equipped with a MIDI card (usually included in sound card) or a USB-MIDI interface - DONE
- to activate "MIDI IN" function in the "Audio/Midi" section of the "Starting parameters" (from the "Controller" menu) - DONE
- to activate "TIME CODE IN" in "Synchro" section of "Page - Settings" window - DONE"
The manual goes on, "Once all the settings are over, it will be possible to synchronize with MIDI TIME CODE input all the cycles in the corresponding page (one at a time). A small button "MTC IN" appears in the Cycle windows to disable/enable the function as shown in the picture below."
My question is when I click on the small button "MTC IN", it does not seem to work. Meaning when I activate the cycle, scene Red initiates and sits there waiting. It never steps to the second scene, Red off-Blue on.
Could you please provide additional details within the cycle menu what I need to do to instruct Compulive to advance through the scenes within a cycle as triggered by MTC?
Also, can a scene with a number of steps be controlled by MTC, as it can by the audio analysis (sound to light)?
Thanks, Bob
