I am looking for an easy way to design scenes and chases. The ideal would be a dmx emulator that I can create a scene or chase and the either upload those to the SD1 or have the steps/config settings to manually program the scene as it is difficult to do so on the SD1 directly.

I don't think there is anything that will do that. The SD1 is a simple controller that programs easily with lights connected.
