new to sd3. i was able to update software version from com port, but unable to download profiles, sd backup states files sent but cannot find files on sd3, sd3 does not indicate it received any file.

Most use the CF card for loading profiles. To use the COM port you have to select that display from the SD3 setup menu so that the SD3 is ready to receive, you should get a confirmation message on the LCD after received.
I have the same problem. Windows 7 Professional 32 bit OS. Tried install of SDBackup in XP mode and running as admin. I can load software to console so I know connection is good. But when i try fixture profile it quickly says the file is sent but console never responds. For now, I got a CF reader/writer on my USB and then move teh card to console.
The software sends the profile but it doesn't know if it was received or not, there is no feedback for that. The SD3 has to be set to receive a profile from the menu then you should get a confirmation on the SD3 display.
