Jingles, thanks for sending me that pdf file on the basics of dmx but now I have another question. I followed the directions in having the first DP-415 dimmer pak being channel 1 and the second DP-415 dimmer pak being channel 5. When I bring up faders 1 - 4 on buss A, the first 4 lights come on like I expect them to. But in order to get the other 4 lights to come on I have to bring up faders 16 - 19 on buss B. I looked through the manual and I probebly missed it somewhere but how do I get faders 5 - 8 to control the lights as well? I want to be able to set up so I can crossfade between A and B with light control on both busses having fadres 1 - 8 on buss A and faders 13 - 20 on buss B.
The controller worked great excpet it kept shuttng off. Turns out we had low power on stage fluctuating between 90 - 100 volts. This place was a PIT!!!! Good thing I was only running 1 power amp for my pa. I had to turn down the intensity of the lights and that kept them on. The audio in feature was great and performed fantastic. I will start to play with the programming features soon but want to learn the basic operation first so I can get 4 more lights for the drums. Any help you or anyone here on the forum can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone,
Rick the Noobie

Rick,
What channel is the DP-415 address to? If using sliders 5-8 then it should be set to dip switch 1 and 3 on.

Also on the Scene Setter 24 you can change the output channel for each slider. Have any of the sliders been changed to control different channels? If so, you can reset them by holding the record button and tapping flash button 7 three times, while in record mode.
Think of DMX like the postal service. A person sends mail (the console) to a certain address (the fixture or dimmer address) via the mailman (the DMX cable). Without the right address, the command or mail can't be received or is delivered improperly. Without the mailman or cable, the command or mail can't be sent at all. And without the sender or console, there is no command or mail to start with.
Sergio,
I have an Scene Setter 24 ch connected to two ETC Smartpack wall mounted dimmer panels. SS24 outputs 1-12 go to 1st panel with 12 dimmers and outputs 13-18 to second panel with 6 dimmers. The SS24 outputs are in sequence but actual light wiring to dimmers is mixed.

How can I assign sliders to match the phisical light configuration (as suggested in your remarks)?

Or do I need to rewire the dimmer panels to match SS24 sliders?

Sergio,
Thanks for your reply. I am not at our church to check the DIPs but all 18 outputs are working now using DMX.

No the slider channels have not been changed. BUT, that is what I want to try but cannot find instructions.

Can you direct me to a source of instruction for changing slider output channels. My other option is to re-wire the ETC Smartpacks.

My objective is to get the SS24 sliders in the same order as theater lighting fixtures (now mixed).
