In This forum you can discuss tips, tricks, and troubleshooting for Elation's Next Generation Compu Live software, "Compu Show".

I'm trying to replicate the problem in a manner that is easily repeatable.

When I use Easy Show, at least for this round of preparing for a show, I made a master "template" show file that contained ALL the scenes I needed and all the music. I was simply doing an "open" so I could do a "save-as" with the new file name. Honestly, this was and is working pretty good. However, my issue is that sometimes Easy Show will crap out and I need to re-start it. This usually happens within 3 open/save-as cycles, but it can happen at any time.

This may seriously screw me on my next show as I will be launching session files via CompuShow on a more "on demand" style rather than my more typical "slaved to sync" method of running Easy Show. The fortunate thing is that Easy Show can be relaunched quickly. I feel confident going in to this show on Saturday. I should be finished with my fast configurations today and then all my launch scenes.

I haven't had a chance to check my other issues yet. I will perhaps do a test in a few days.

Update on another issue:

Stopping on markers appears to work, but as far as the unreliability part, well, it's not determined yet. In this next show, I will NOT be using markers as there won't be a need to do so.

In EasyShow, importing another "show" or "session" into a timeline isn't working well. It is still NOT bringing in the media. Now, if I was doing stuff "back to back", it wouldn't be a big deal, but I have a 2-second blackout at the front of each session, then the audio loads and so does the lighting scenes(or switches at the case may be).

Regarding this importing of a show, I am going to be re-doing one of the things I work on to allow for easier changes. This will work with other stuff I am doing as well, since we're doing a "mash up" of two films into one. Since in this case, everything will butt into each other, it will just be a matter of programming scenes(chapters really) and then dropping them inline one after another. If the video doesn't get imported, it won't matter because I can drag in the media and put it right in with no possibility of mistakes.

I'll be dong a lot of "work" tonight with CompuShow. If things are working as they have been, I should be pretty happy.
I was going to change how I do things, but then decided against it, mostly due to what I know and not wanting to learn yet another new thing before a big event. Cycles will be the next thing to learn, but that will wait until next week!

I'm basically going to run my entire show using CompuShow as the engine.

Each routine will have a session file for EasyShow. Each session starts with a blackout, then goes into music and a single static scene(may have steps and programming but it's otherwise just a single scene), then a fade-out, then it goes into the MC scene. I will be using scenes in Compushow to trigger opening and playback of the EasyShow sessions.

For other elements, such as intermission, pre and post show(where there are multiple songs in a row, think playlist), I will simply do the same thing except there's just a "blue out" scene for those.

For a few other elements, I am having scenes in CompuShow with programming(typically static 1 step scenes) use the MultiMedia option, playing either a short(think beep/ringtone) or long(song) file.

I've also programmed a new blackout scene that also handles song stop.

My issue now has been that CompuShow sometimes will bomb out too. I am noticing stability issues with the CompuShow platform. When it bombs out, Easy3D goes full screen, which is a nuisance to have to take the time to deal with that. The upside is that I feel the CompuShow bomb out seemed to be tied to a specific activity, which involved trying to copy a step from one scene to a different scene, which doesn't seem to be allowed now. It also seems to take place when I am trying to not save changes when editing a scene, but the save or not save does apply first, thank goodness. During my more abusive playback testing, CompuShow has so far been solid, which is what I need it to be. I can tolerate glitches when doing my programming and set-up, as long as showtime things work fine.

I was going to use Launchpad/Ableton Live to trigger some sounds, but I'm opting for CompuShow this show for convenience purposes.I just bought a new Launchpad Mini for this purpose,so that was kind of a waste of money, but I need it for other stuff going forward anyways.

My only other outstanding issue is the proper support of formats other than .wav files. Hey, I'm all for better quality and detest MP3 garbage.
