easy show question

ok hoping someone can answer this. inside of easy show you can import a video file and put it into the timeline to program the lights to go with the video. two questions are ...
1. which is the best file type to make the movie in so that if i want to play the video back on plasma screens it comes out clear and not grainy( i have tried avi files and they look horrible ) want to get as close as i can to dvd quailty video but running through easy show and computer.
2.what would be the best way to output the video from the computer to the screens other than hdmi (niehter screens or laptop have input)

Have you tried wmv? or even mpeg?
Also to output video your computer must have either VGA or DVI out on a decent graphic card.
