I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LIGHTS. The band I run sound for bought 16 par 56 cans, - 2 thin, square power strip box-things (dimmers ?), - 2 crank stands and truss things of some guy that just got divorced about 7 months ago FOR $280.00!!!!!!. Sometimes we only use two light stands with 4 cans each on them (and they use some kind of footswitch onstage) but sometimes we use all the lights and they put this “Elation DMX Operator Pro” back with me.
I’m only operating a total of NO MORE than 4 faders on the controller. I use the first four on the left (1/9, 2/10, 3/11, 4/12). The singer figured out that we have to push the first (far left) “FIXTURES” button. I think it blinks and then we have to push the next three and then the lights come on.
So throughout the show I just ride the faders up and down depending on what the songs needs. Sometimes I just want to be able to push a fader’s button(?) and make that/those lights blink or flash full-on, but I have to just ride them up real fast. My left arm gets a good workout but I know I should be able to just push a button to make that channel blink/flash full-on…
So, In simple step by step, Sesame Street language…
1 - What buttons do I push, and in what order to make it so I can make the channel(s) flash full-on?
2 - What buttons do I push, and in what order to make the “BLACKOUT” button work (when I push it, it does nothing…)?
3 - What buttons do I push, and in what order to make the “TAP SYNC” button work (when I push it, it does nothing…)?
4 - What buttons do I push, and in what order to make the “MASTER” fader work (when I use it, it does nothing…)?
5 - After doing everything you all instruct me to do, will the controller save this? Is there a way to save all this? Or will I have to input all this stuff every time?
Well, I think that’s it! I have the manual in my hand right now. The band’s leader and I have both tried reading through it, but there’s no pages that simply say, “SECTION 8 - How to make channels flash full-on”. I’m a lighting dummy that does not know ANY lighting terminology. I don’t want to know how to do scenes, chases or anything else (right now…), I just want to make the channel’s light(?) flash full-on, make the “BLACKOUT” and “TAP SYNC ”button’s work, and I’d like the “MASTER” fader to work.
If any of you can help I would REALLY appreciate it! We’ll even send you a check if the instructions are all Sesame Street like!
