So came in after not using the system for a few days and now my lights have gone crazy like they are all getting different signals.
I have a feeling the dongle could be causing the problem as the lights operate fine in demo modes and the software seems to be fine but the lights seem to be getting crazy signals.
How do I know if a dongle has gone bad?

Which model is it?
There is a test mode of sorts if you close down compu show and then go to the compushow folder and open it and find the tools.exe and click it and there is a tab to test dmx output and little faders below it.
Also what all lights are flashing on the interface it self? And how are they flashing?

On the Dongle the Red and Green are flashing. Yellow is solid.
Using all ADJ lighting. P64, ProPar 56 and Vizi LED.
Lights work fine by themselves but when you dmx different series of lights together, they go nuts. Patch is fine and even rebuilt a show from scratch to make sure patch was correct.

Have you tried different DMX cables to rule out a bad cable? How long is your total cable run from the interface to the last fixture in the chain? Are you using a DMX splitter at all?
Have you also tried going straight into one single fixture with a short cable from the interface into the fixture to see how it reacts then?

All cables have been replaced and shortest run is now 2 feet from the dongle to the first light.
I will try the simple DMX tool you mentioned and see what I get.

Also, verify that the DMX channels are on the lights themselves havent changed. Some times after a power down, you loose the channel and/or mode...this could cause your issue as well
You can also try a DMX termination after the last light in your rig. This would eleminate any back feed of DMX data

We have had some storms in the area. Could a power surge cause these types of problems?
Could I send the lights in to be checked/fixed?

To be honest, i have never experienced a storm being able to effect a light. However, high power lines next to the DMX data lines can cause issues. So, its not impossible, i just have never seen it. If you want, you can call in to the service department and get them checked out 323.213.4593

Well, after being told there was no way the dongle was bad, the dongle was bad and had to be repaired. Elation did a super fast job getting it repaired and back to me.
Lights are working again.
