Hello all

I am new to Emulation and DMX for that matter. I am running Emulation 1.03.26 on my MAC (10.6.6).

This may be a dumb question but hope to get help via the forum. Is there a way to use the color chase, color change, sound active programs that certain DMX lights come with. For example the Chauvet Color strip, I can control the colors but was hoping to be able to tap into the sound active chases so that I dont have to TRY to create them myself.

Also any chance of 3D view coming our way on any of the updates.

Thanks
Jose

Hello James
The color strip can run on stand alone (sound active). This is how I have been running them prior to getting Emulation. My hope was to be able to still run it on stand alone programs but be able to cut over to a single color when need be via Emulation. However as I mentioned the only channels/parameters I can see in Emulation is Color and Dimmer. Below is the link that will take you to the manuel.
Thank you
jose

ahh yes. we have the profile set for RGB mode. The reason we did this is because it is quite hard to make a profile for the dmx traits of the colorstrip that has one channel requiring another to be on a certain value and that enables other channels to change their functions. Let me look into making a "full" profile for this fixture. If I can make it I'm letting you know now it won't be done until sometime next week. Most likely Tuesday or Wednesday. Again that is IF we can make a profile to access the other functions. I'll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
I am also new to the program and new to intelligent lighting...i would imagine that you can use the sound active modes on the Chauvet Q-Spot 260 LED with Emulation (Basically activate the modes from the controller)...but i do not have the slightest idea of how....does anyone have a solution?

Also would like to use the sound active mode on Chauvet Color Pallette...if anyone knows how to.
Thanks!
Hey James,

Thank you so much for getting back so quickly! I did check and they are definitely blanked out which i had noticed before i thought maybe i was just doing something wrong. I really would think that those lights would be able to function that way from the controller. Maybe i will just buy some moving heads that do. If you have any suggestions for a good moving head for a Wedding DJ that can be controlled that way feel free to let me know!

Thanks again James!
Well looking at the Q spot 260 LED traits in the advanced mode (14 ch) there is 4 different presets for sound active on channel 14. I can add it too the profile if you want me too. Let me know.

The builder program is the program we use to create these personality profiles for all of you guys. If you feel savvy enough you can try making your own. It can take some time to fully learn though.

Good movers from Elation with sound active are, all of them really. haha. to name a few, Platinum spot LED, Design Spot 250 PRO, Design spot LED (not sure if we still sell them though, Platinum spot 5R or 5R PRO. All you need to look for in the dmx traits is the stand alone or sound active mode. ADJ also has some good movers too.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
James!! Thankyou so much! I am about to try it out as a Test run! Also really quick i know i am meeting with a Elation Rep tomorrow and i believe he is going to try and build a personality file for the Chauvet Intimidator Spot 150s...you don't by chance already have one in the system do you?

thanks so much for your quick responses! y'all have a top notch program!
not going to believe this...ok replaced the factory chauvet.xml file and it worked in the since that sa12 is there...but the minute you load the light it goes straight into sound mode and you cannot turn it off...when you do move the sa12 fader..the fixture will go to zero then about 2 seconds and will go back into random moving...very interesting. i think were close though...any ideas on that note...
right...i definitely understand...even when you right click it...and it takes the values back to zero (Or i am assuming OFF) then the fixture will return to zero for about 2 seconds and then go back to the sound functions. Even when you clear it and the SA12 will go grey...the light continues to move around (and its doing the functions of whats programed into sound 1 or 2 but its not actually listening to sound) kinda weird...i don't know if it is a glitch or something of that nature.
Ya since there are 2 sound active modes i adjust the range of the fader to be between the start of mode 1 which is 100 and the end value of mode 2 which is 139. So that is how it should be. Or, you can simply tell me which single sound active mode you think works bets and I can just add it to the sound active or stand alone part in the misc section to avoid this issue. Let me know.
Hello James,
I hope all is well. I recently updated to version 1.03.31 of emulation. I have lost the capability of controlling my Chauvet Q-Spot 260 LED moving heads. I think the issues I am experiencing is due to the sound active features that were created. As much as I like the sound active feature I need to have control of my light. Can you please advise on what I should do? i have a Wedding on 4/21 that I need to get my issues resolved by. I don't mind going back to the previous version. Please advise. thank you
Good Morning James
I just wanted to thank you. This worked and more amazingly I was able to get it to work. Smiler The only thing I noticed but not a show stopper by any means was that in order to get the prism affect I have to move the rotation slider from 0. I don't recall having to do that before. Again not a big deal for me because I usually rotate it when using the Prism affect. So just to confirm, at this point we can't have control and sound active with the Q Spot 260. Sound active would be nice but not at the cost of being able to have control. Once again thank you for all your help.
