Re: scene setter 24 dmx channel addressing
Luis, I have tried that numerous times. Granted , it has been about 10 years since I have used DMX lighting. My last controller, An Election was a breeze to address. This is my second Scene Setter 24 in four weeks. The first one my salesperson and I assumed was defective. Now, for many years I have used XLR mic cables and I am learning that they may not work with todays new lighting components. I am assuming there is quit a difference between XLR and DMX cabling... So, I presently have...

Re: scene setter 24 dmx channel addressing
Carl, If the steps provided did not work, I suggest reviewing the instructions found printed on the bottom plate of the controller to verify that the steps provided match the "DMX CH. Assignment" setup, which is what you are trying to configure. Also, although XLR cables are physically an exact replacement of DMX cables, we do highly recommend using DMX cables, strictly for lighting. As far as addressing these lights, considering that the Scene Setter 24 is only a 24-Channel controller, it...

Re: Roller Rink Wash with LED?
Hi Mikey, I have a customer who did a roller rink using Power Spot 250's and mainly the power wash 250 and cmy zoom 250 to color the floor. These would normally be ok for 20' distances, We actually recomend 250watt fixtures for up to 35' If you wanted to use LED's the DLED 36 delivers the best light output in LED using 36 1w luxeon LED's with reflectors. Re: spot and wash 250
do u have any control over the one that is moving on it's own? is there any type of light that tells u it is recieving a DMX signal? also i just checked and if u have the power spot and washes the spots are 15 channels which would mean the second one should start at A016. and if this is so is it panning and tilting on it own or just one or the other. can u tell me what u have and at what addresses?? i need to know if they are power spots and washes or what. and also if the washes are cmy or not.

Re: Color mixing
Hi Jonathan, I agree, I love the CMY color mixing feature. However this makes a lighting fixture a lot more expensive. Also, its dificult to fit all of these features in a light. So at Elation we are working on incorporating this feature into most of our lights. In the 250 range, if we incorporate CMY in a spot, it will be a bigger light, and be as much as a 575. So if you are already buying a big light, might as well bump up to a 575 fixture. The Elation Design Spot 575e, will be one of the...

Re: Need help w/ DMX Operator
Hi DJ, Yes it could be bad. If the DMX driver chips are damaged, then they will still work sound active. Try using your friends board and a light also to see if both your lights and controllers work. If it is DMX drivers, then you will have to send it in for service. No other way around it. Elation makes this device. DMX Branch 4. It is created to supress over voltage to the DMX signal. Once overvoltage goes through the line it takes everything out. However most people don't sell this or...

ok to adjust a circle movement: you create a blank scene and then you go ino edit and then you will click on the east time editor tab then once u do that u right click on the box that says "right click here to automatically create motion" and select automatic circle. assign how many points u want to then click ok. then once again right click on a pont in your circle and select shape properties. and then u can manaually adjust where you want the beam to stay within a certain area. understand?

Re: powerspot 250 lenses
The instruction manual. I was going to comment, but felt its better for an elation rep to let them know which is right rather then my opinion. It says that then lens should be replaced every two years, but really it only needs to be replaced when it gets cloudy or breaks IMO. The manual is referring to the outer condensing lens, by the way, the one you can touch (but shouldn't) on the front of the head. Overall, you shouldn't need to replace any lens' on your power spot until it breaks. -Homeboy

This is the answer I was looking for. See I had two lights on the floor one night and someone ran a mic cord over the housing so when the light spun around it got stuck and knocked the lens loose. I fixed and it is fine for now but I did notice that the lens looked a little imperfect. I think I will replace the lenses on this pair of fixtures then. Thanks, Tap

Re: Compuware04 and SCX500's
Hi Gary, When a profile is created for lights, they are not always perfect because most of the time they are not tested with the light. Since compu looks for basic functions some lights may have odd functions that don't respond correctly to default funtions of the software. What you want to do is after the page is created go to the edit window of any button. Here you can have direct access to all the channels and you should be able to use the functions of all the channels. This will let you...

Re: Scene to Scene Transition
Hi Christian, This is simple, the option will be in the controller rather than in the light you are using. You are looking for "fade time" You can set the fade time to be 7 seconds, and there you will have the 7 seconds you are looking for.

Of course they are! Its all DMX it doesn't matter if there is two different dimmer packs or any of the dmx consoles out there will all be able to control anything dmx WHEN USED PROPERLY. I don't mean to be harsh, but how much do you know about your console? The fat frog is a pretty high end console, you need a lot to happen for just one slider to control one light, its very complicated. Have you checked the patch? are you in one scene mode or two? what about the universe settings, master,...

Hi DJ, Those six lights are a nice set up. Your show will be looking good. What you need to learn is a few things to get going. 1. make sure you assing the right light to your fixture buttons. I'm not sure if the entour is in the memory of the magic so you may need to download the profile from the website and load it into your board using your U-link cable. If you don't have the u-link cable then you should get it. Once the fixtures are assigned the next step is to learn how to create 1...

Re: led moving head idea
Hey Jingles.. What's new?? Color mixing is interesting. When you have RGB. This is considered addative color mixing. What this means is, if you have Red at 100%, Green at 100% and Blue at 100% you get white. CMY is subtractive color mixing.. If you do all the colors at 100% this will give you black, or the colors go away. CMY is only useful if you have a white source to back it up, like in a moving head, the source is comming from the lamp.

Re: Design Spot 250 Fade Issues
Ahhh! Ok.. Your starting from INIT. This makes sense as with INIT all values of the moving light are off. So when you fade on, every function is fading. In programming you need to get used to creating set up scenes. A set up scene is the scene you want to be active before your actual scene comes on. This is what I was talking about when I suggested to create the scene you want, and bring down all the dimmers. Record that as the scene. Position, color, gobo, but dimmer off. then simply turn...

Re: Compu Live Questions
Hi Matchless, Yes, I know what your talking about.. and you have a few simple modifications to work with. 1. The Design Spot 250 has two pan degree settings. The degree is the amount of spin from left to right that the light can move. It should be set to 540 degrees on the light to match the 3D window. 2. Once this is done, then on the 3D window you may want to invert the pan and tilt to match the direction of the actual light. Here is a picture to help you find the pan and tilt inversion.

Re: Compu Live Questions
John, 1. I changed the degree angle from 630 to 540 on the light. I even reset the pan motors on the light. Unfortunately, this did not affect the "home" position of the light. It looks like I'm still off by 45-90 degrees on the pan. 2. Also, I did invert the pan last night to get the movement direction corrected (i.e. Clockwise vs. Counter Clockwise pan). So anyway, ?????, still can't get my "home" positions to match the viewer. And, yes, it does affect every movement in real life after...

In fact, in the viewer, the head points down and away from me and the U of the yoke arms run left to right. So NOW that matches what I have in real life. I even went ahead and checked the actual degrees of rotation both in the viewer and in real life, and in both modes (540 and 630), the fixtures really do rotate the full range of degrees they're supposed to. I believe the front cover of the light is held by 4 screws. These are special 1/4 turn screws that allow the light to easily be opened for service or gobo change out and maintanence. Just get your self a philips head screw driver.

Re: RSER message
Hi Evolution. RSER This message informs you that one of the fixture function wasn’t able to do its reset correct (magnetic sensor, stepping motor, driver on the PCB, cables, etc.). Repair the defect and start the fixture again. When a fixture starts up, it goes through a calibration process to make sure all system are good. It tests every motor to make sure it works. So the light has a color wheel motor, gobo wheel motor, shutter/dimmer motor, pan motor, tilt motor etc. etc. One of these...

Mike, This might be a stupid question but have you addressed the units and the dimmers so that they overlap addresses? Dimmer DMX address 1 along with one of the scans If they overlap they will act like they are carping out when you use an attribute in a moving light. Dimmer unit 1 address =1 Unit 2 address=5 scan 1 address =9 and scan 2 address=15… The magic 260 will allow you to chose what the start address is for each fixture.

Hmmm.. It sounds like you are having data issues. This means that either one of the cables is not working well. or 1 light or dimmer has a bad output. Here is what I recomend. Try connecting one thing at a time. 1 dimmer, then 1 light, 1 dimmer then 1 light I think you will find the problem this way. As you connect each dimmer, make sure you bring intensities to 100% before you connect the next light. When you find the problem, change the cable. And if all the cables are good, then change...
