I also found out that if I launch Compu 2006 without the USB interface then Easy Show will launch okay and I can play the audio tracks. This won't work for us because we can't do the light show.

If I close Compu 2006 and just open Easy Show (with the USB connected) it launches okay and I can play the audio tracks - However, the USB connection light is NOT lite, so again we can't do the light show.

What are we doing wrong?

this means that you don't have the COMPU 2048FC.
You must have the basic version usb interface.

If you want to use that feature then you need to see if the person who sold you your compu 1024EC will upgrade your interface.

John, I don't mean to sound critical, but I have three quetions:

1. Why does Elation Lighting sale software (with a USB interface) that doesn't work with Easy Show?

2. Why doesn't Guitar Center know anything about this upgrade requirement?

3. Why does the User Manual for Compu 2006 or Easy Show not mention the upgrade requirement?

From a customer's point of view this doesn't seem right.

Sorry again if I offend in anyway, it's just that I'm very curious.

One last question, are you sure the upgrade will correct this issue?

1: The software is actually free. Anyone can download it and try it out. Many companies do this, like High End with Hog PC and Jands with Vista PC. You are simply buying the interface to translate software commands into DMX signals. So the fact that the USB interface doesn't work with the software is the issue, not the other way around.

2: No offense to anyone who works at Guitar Center, but they aren't exactly experts. This is like myself walking into a Best Buy and telling them I want a Pro Audio Surround Sound System. They aren't going to have a clue as to what 'pro' is. I have actually installed a few 'pro' level systems, and they are not cheap in the least. The amps alone can cost more then the whole system with what Best Buy's definition of a 'pro' system would be.

3: That is a John question. However, the following is from the 2048FC product page, "COMPU 2048FC is the full version Lighting controller. You can do everything available with the 1024EC, however you will have the full version 3D visualizer plus the use and integration of Easy show. A time line program used to synchronize a light show to music. Compu 1048FC allows integration of SYMPTE TIME CODE as well of the use of your computers internal clock for synchronized or timed shows. Compu 2048FC has one DMX out put and one DMX in put. Which give you 512 output channels and 512 input channels.
However you can sacrifice the 512 input channels and convert to an extra 512 out put channels using a female to female barrel or gender changer for a total of 1024 DMX output channels. Additionally Compu 2048FC will give you an extra 2048 Art-Net DMX channels through your Ethernet output using an Art-net DMX hub."

Hope I didn't offend you mdthomas. Just trying to clarify a few things is all. Hopefully Elation_Pro or someone else at Elation can help you better then I can. Costumer service has been great.

Firefox, actually I'm a little confused about the software being free. I purchased the Compu 2006 package that came with the software disc and the interface. This is why I am asking why the interface doesn't work with Easy Show (which also came on the disc). I would think that the interface should work with whatever is sold in the package. Are you saying that I need to go back and buy an upgrade to 2048FC?

By free I mean you can go and download the software. Try it out, play around with it, Hog and Vista PC I actually will use to pre-program shows sometimes. I actually have the software but don't have a dongle, so can't use it as a console to control DMX fixtures.

Judging by the wording on the product page and Elation_Pro stating you need the upgraded dongle, looks like that's what you have to do to use Easy Show.

hey guys sorry I'm coming in late on this one. The 1024ec dongle does not allow for the triggering of scenes or switches from easy show software. You will infact need the 2048fc or higher model of the dongle to enable this feature. All the CDs come bundled with all the software options as it would take top much to customize each cd rom In each box.
