In This forum you can discuss tips, tricks, and troubleshooting for Elation's Next Generation Compu Live software, "Compu Show".

I am just going to copy in here the discussion I've had on a Facebook group of CompuShow users...

CompuShow issues abound!
1) Compushow repeatedly "forgets" the MidiCon button assignments (all of them).
Mid-run, or on an app restart.
2) Comupshow is continually 'repatching' fixture placments in the 3-D workspace.
I lose instantly over 20+ mins of fixture arrangements in one dialogue box.

What am I doing wrong? I'd think if I saved as I go, it'd stay as I wanted.

Common issues? Common fixes?

Ken Petersen I've installed, now, close to 4 different releases of this program. and am getting no closer to having one of them act stable.
Installed on a brute of a WIN7 box.

Arnoldo Offermann No.. this is odd.. and it saves when it closes.

Let's narrow it down. Did you install the version I gave you?

Can you please post system specs?

Are you running an antivirus? I'm wondering if something with the anti-virus keeps running things back.

Do you have multiples copies of the show?

Arnoldo Offermann Ken.. we may need to Skype session this sometime this week. I hate saying user error... but if it's on multiple machines, something has to be amiss.

Ken Petersen Yes. Yours was one that I tried. The 'best one' was the one I got out of for your suggested release.
Win7 - all latest updates
HP Pavillion dv7-6135dx
i5 2.3 gz
8gig DDR3
750 gig drive

Every re-install of CS, I kill the c:\compushow (or C:\compushowbeta)directory.

No residual files (other than maybe device drivers) floating around.

On install, I kill the demo.shw and stage.evs files.

Arnoldo Offermann Very VERY odd indeed.

Arnoldo Offermann Try it without that crap. Let's see if it's mistaking the XML code for something.

Ken Petersen Status:
Laptop NIC = disabled
Virus Protection = disabled
CompuShow version build date = Feb 1, 2013
Suite2.exe running in "Run As Administrator"
MidiCon = 65% buttons (page 1) programmed.
User confidence = minimal.

48 hours until showtime.

Have 'something' worth showing.
Not changing a g-damn thing.

Ken Petersen We are in the air.

The show contains 3 pages:
8 - Martin MX4s,
4 - Elation Platinum 5r Beam Pros
4 - Elation Platinum 5r Spot Pros

What happens to be going on now, is absolutely puzzling.

CompuShow operates the MX4s and the Beam Pros flawlessly.

The Spot Pros are no where near what they can be. If I were to try and explain it, I'd describe it as "The .ssl2 (or .ssl) files for the Spot Pro fixture are 'wrong'."

I have no pirsm control, no zoom control, no focus control, and the colors seem to have a pink that won't ever 'go'. White is pink, yellow is orange-ish, blue is purple, ect.

The DMX chain is terminated. The Spot Pros are all 'doing" (wrongly) the same thing at the same time. So the DMX signal is getting out there and the fixtures are reading it.

I have verified 4 times Compushow is operating the fixtures in the correct User Mode (St, Ba, Ex). I have even cleared the Spot Pro's page to ensure I had them 'in' correctly on the software side.

Here's the kicker: The 3D environment shows I am telling the fixtures what to do, and the 3D room shows me the fixtures are doing what CompuShow is telling the 4 fixtures to do.

With all the previous attempts of getting CompuShow operating correctly, I had another installation file. I installed a previous build of CS for the sole purpose to get an 'older' .ssl2/.ssl file for the Spot Pros. I swapped those out and still have the same issues.

Its in the air now, and there's nothing I can do for tonight's event.

I need Elation's software to control Elation's fixtures... flawlessly.

Can someone with Elation PHYSICALLY operate a Spot Pro with CompuShow and provide the .ssl2 or .ssl file in this discussion?
