Hello everyone. At my last show which consisted of 4 DS 250's and 16 ADJ LED par 64 pro's i ran into a weird problem. I ran my DMX chain starting with DS 250's and down from there to the par cans. Whenever i plugged in any of the par cans i would loose the dmx signal to the DS 250's. I tried changing cables and moving par cans around but nothing worked. Tonight i set the same lights up and had the same issue. I ran all my cables through a tester and all are good. To further trouble shoot i tried the DS 250's alone and they worked well. I then tried the par cans alone and for a minute they worked well too but eventually stopped responding. I then tried linking all the lights together and again lost the dmx signal. I then pulled out a old martin freekie i have stored away and set the par cans up, worked flawlessly. To further check, i added the DS 250's to the dmx chain and i did not loose it. I could still control the par cans. I could not fully test the DS 250' because i did not go through the set up on the freekie, but the fact that i DID NOT loose the dmx signal leads me to believe that i have a faulty compuware box. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Alex.

Hi DJ,

I know you are new to the forums, however it is proven over and over the the USB interface does not transmit as strong a dmx signal as control board or console because it is powered through USB.
It is for this reason that a DMX splitter / booster is highly recommended.
A DMX splitter / booster is recommended for all lighting set ups and people don't know it, but for the software I would say its mandatory.
It also works as a protection for your interface.

Best regards,
