My church recently purchased an Arena Q7 Zoom. The shutter/strobe channel has values that enable the LEDs and other values where the LEDs are off. The values 0 through 31 leave the LEDs off no matter what values are sent on the fader channel or any of the color channels. When we are using ShowXpress software to control the LEDs it's easy to always keep a value on the shutter/strobe channel so that the other channel values can set colors and intensities. We have a problem when we don't have the ShowXpress software running, like when we have something with no tech crew, like a walk in wedding. At those times the LED lights are controlled by a Doug Fleenor Preset 10 Architectural control. The problem we encounter is the Preset 10 lowers all of the non-zero channel values from their current setting to zero when fading to off. As soon as the shutter/strobe value gets below 32 the LEDs are cut off. The effect is that all of the lights but the Q7 dim smoothly but the Q7 cuts off instantly. The same thing happen when turning the lights on. The other fixtures fade in smoothly but the Q7 has no output until the shutter/strobe channel value gets above 31 and then it's instant on.

Is there a menu setting for the Q7 that I'm missing that will help with this? I would rather not change the Off setting on the Preset 10 to include a value for the shutter/strobe channel because I would like to still be able to send all zeros, which puts some of our fixtures into standby mode. What I'm currently doing is using one of the presets for nothing other than sending a value to the shutter/strobe channel that will keep the LEDs on if the other channels call for light. Then I can enable/disable the other presets and the Q7 will fade in and out smoothly. I was just hoping there was a solution that didn't make me use up a preset for nothing but the shutter/strobe value.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi David,

There are 2 software versions with Arena Par Q7 V.1 and V.2
Please check which version you have.
V.1 has the shutter you are referring to on 7ch mode. However the new V.2 has a 5ch mode. With the 5 ch mode it removes the dimmer and shutter so that as you need that won't happen. However if you can imaging using the archi controller your zoom will be zooming wide to narrow with intensities.
