Focus Spot 250 Random Blackout

I am using 4 Focus Spot 250's & 10 Martin 812's in my club... and have been for almost 2 years... Recently, 2 of the Focus Spots began randomly "blacking out" during the night. We can tell that the bulb is still fired, and the light is still moving (responding to DMX commands), but we can not get the light out of Blackout mode... Anybody have any ideas ?

Hi WibsDJ and welcome to the forums.

Over the course of the 2 year period, have the lights been cleaned at all? Might be the shutter on the two units in question is getting hung up and just needs some lubricant and/or dust getting in the way.

Also, have the lamps ever been replaced? At two years, they should be nearing the end of the lamp life. This might be the problem, since the lamps still 'glow' a for a bit after they have been doused, so this might be the issue too and lead whomever to thing they are still on when in fact they are not.

also maybe check to tsee if the blackout by movement feature in the dmx traits is not programmed into the cue. This would cause the shutter to block the output if the light is moving. Just another option to check.
