A note for others:
Please, when using additional hardware with the software, please ensure the following has been done first:
1: Any dongles or hardare interfaces for lighting has already been plugged in, especially if they are required for software functionality. For example, MyDMX doesn't need the dongle plugged in to actually work for design, but does need to be plugged in to be used to actually control DMX.(MyDMX is an ADJ product, I'm safe to talk about it).
2: If you're using any MIDI interfaces, please alread have those plugged in before launching your DMX software(or anything else that uses it). Any MIDI devices that connect via MIDI cables can then be attached at your convenience.
3: Variant: if you have any USB MIDI devices(such as many current model keyboards and other devices, as well as devices like the Korg nano-series), please ensure those are plugged in before your launch your DMX software or other software that uses such hardware.
4: Likewise, peripherals such as joysticks should also be plugged in ahead of time.
5: General input devices that attach via USB are not quite as critical. This can include keyboards, mouse, other input devices(keypads with a wireless interface, bluetooth devices, and so on). It's good practice to plug them in ahead of time though.
Just some common and not so common sense tips for newbies and veterans alike.
