Re: scene setter 24 dmx channel addressing

Luis, I have tried that numerous times. Granted , it has been about 10 years since I have used DMX lighting. My last controller, An Election was a breeze to address. This is my second Scene Setter 24 in four weeks. The first one my salesperson and I assumed was defective. Now, for many years I have used XLR mic cables and I am learning that they may not work with todays new lighting components. I am assuming there is quit a difference between XLR and DMX cabling... So, I presently have...

Carl, If the steps provided did not work, I suggest reviewing the instructions found printed on the bottom plate of the controller to verify that the steps provided match the "DMX CH. Assignment" setup, which is what you are trying to configure. Also, although XLR cables are physically an exact replacement of DMX cables, we do highly recommend using DMX cables, strictly for lighting. As far as addressing these lights, considering that the Scene Setter 24 is only a 24-Channel controller, it...

Hey Carl, To assign the DMX Channels on "ADJ" branded version of the Scene Setter you will need to do the following: 1. Enter Program Mode by pressing and holding the Record button and entering 1, 6, 6, 8. 2. Enter Channel Assign Mode by pressing and holding the Record button and entering 8, 8, 8. 3. Once this has been done the display will read 001, you can now use the Up or Down button to select the channel (1-512) that you want assigned. 4. Once your desired channel is displayed, tap the...

The first pack should have only the first dip switch up and the second should have only the first and third up. This will make the channel 1 for the first and 5 for the second, thus covering all 8 channels you want. No, you can't separate the two plugs so you get 8 channels out of each pack, its strictly 4 channels. However, yes you can add more packs and "piggy back" or "daisy chain" (which ever term you prefer) off of the DMX outs from the last dimmer pack. You should already be doing this...

Good job jthtiger! But flipper what ever you do DO NOT plug your DMX lights in to the DP-415!! never plug your DMX lights into a dimmer pack as it will ruin the the DMX hardware and motors in your intelligent lights. also i believe your stage setter 8 that came with your pack should have enough channels for your lights. but can u tell me how many pars you have/plan to use? let me know and i can be of further help. sincerely,

on a side note. your spot 250 uses 6 DMX channel and the vue 3 uses 9. 9+6=15 DMX channels total. so you only have room for maybe one or two pars on the stage setter 8. might want to look into a bigger controller. like jthtigers DMX operator 192.

Regarding your edit: Over 2 years of constant use things can get that way. My church owns a stage setter-48 and the only problems we are having with it, is the faders are starting to not work properly. Hi World.. Elation guy jumping in here. in the world of consoles in general the faders and buttons you commonly use will need to be replaced sometime or another.. sometimes sooner than later. With the Elation consoles we strive to use the good components to do the Job and not the best component made.. That is why you will see some lighting consoles for alot more money than the Elation product, and some consoles for less money. We believe our consoles are a great value for the price. However...

Oh No, We have had this controller for over 10 years (i think. . .at least 7). The problem is that when you push some of the faders up to 100% it skips down to 30% and flashes around. It is kinda hard to explain. You push it up and it hits 100 then jumps back and forth between 30 and 100. Does that make sense? We just need another one. About the 192 not being satisfactory, you would have fast control over lots of faders. All you would do is it one button, and then change the faders. There...

Depends on exactly what you are looking to do. If it is just conventional lighting, then a scene setter will do, even with some LEDs in the mix. For movers, you will need some sort of moving light console, be it a Magic 260 (wouldn't recommend), DMX Operator 192, Show Designer 1, the CompuLive computer program, etc etc. If you also want to add moving lights later, I would go for a moving light console so you are not kicking yourself later, or you can do what I often do and use one console...

Hi Mike, The stage setter 8 is a straight forward controller channels 1-8 or channels 1-6 consecutivly. So the controller will always give you the same results. I think the best thing for you would be to contact Chauvet and see whats up with the Color Pallette.. It has some pretty complex channel assignments, and if you address them to 1 for simplicity sake they should do the same thing. For other channel or menu setting on the Color Palette you need to work with chauvet. Best regards,

Rick, What channel is the DP-415 address to? If using sliders 5-8 then it should be set to dip switch 1 and 3 on. Also on the Scene Setter 24 you can change the output channel for each slider. Have any of the sliders been changed to control different channels? If so, you can reset them by holding the record button and tapping flash button 7 three times, while in record mode.

Hello Eric, A Stage Setter can control the color changing effect of a P64LED, but it is not recommended. The Stage Setter 8 is a DMX controller but is more directed towards non DMX fixtures such as stage lights. Since the P64Led is an intelligent fixture, you will need an intelligent controller to get the full capability and functionality of this light. What your son is doing is fine, you are going to be able to control the dimming effect and colors of the light that you have with the Stage...

Re: Clueless newbie w/ scene setter 24

A Scene Setter can program chases (it calls these scenes for some reason). The difference is a chase is a series of steps/looks in a row that loop over and over again. A scene is simply one look. So basically, you can call a chase a series of scenes. Now, the Scene Setter is mainly used for conventional lighting (lights that work off a dimmer pack like par cans) and can be used for LED lighting as well but isn't the best console in the world for it. Which fixtures are you using? Maybe you...

Re: DMX Settings for Stage Setter 8

Well the stage setter 8 isn't really ideal for that type of fixture. The stage setter 8 is most suited for par cans and dimmer packs. singles channel effects. The stage setter 8 only offers 16 dmx channels. And your lights may very ell use more than that. In fact I'm sort of familiar with your LED par cans. They use anywhere from 4 -6 channels. So I think you may need to get a different controller. Sincerely,

Reuben, The Stage Setter 8 has a fade function that affects the response of the individual sliders as well as the chase programs. You can enable this fade by going into 1x16 mode and adjusting the Y cross fader. Try reseting the fade delay to instant by bringing the Y fader all the way up to value 0, while in 1x16 mode. Well, to start with, we have the Stage Setter 8 controller, which is nothing more than a 16 channel DMX controller. Then you have 2 DP415 dimmer packs, which are both 4 channel dimmer packs. Starting in with your Roller Trons, I'm assuming perhaps incorrectly that you have the Roller Tron 250's. But I could be wrong. These are 5-channel DMX fixtures. Channel 3 and Channel 4, value 255, is SOUND ACTIVE. So these support SOUND active, probably in a "per mode" bass. Channel 3 being sound active...
