In This forum you can discuss tips, tricks, and troubleshooting for Elation's Next Generation Compu Live software, "Compu Show".

So I've pretty much been learning the program through trial and error, on the fly sort of stuff. Reading the manual finally last night, noticed about centering fixtures when you patch.

Wondering if this will fix a couple things I'm not liking-I have a switch built for circles movements, tilt kicks and panning movements. When I use the switch, the lights spin around and then go into the movement, and the same when I undo the switch-almost as they reset positions.

Could the lights being centered cause this? And where do I position the fixtures to center for the program not be all crazy?

One thing I do is create my own blackout scene with a set position for movers. Usually all of them doing a full rotation on the pan channel and tilt on 127. And i use this instead of the "INIT" which is all channels at 0. Also a tip: do not modify the INIT scene just create your own. doing so messes with hoe scenes are played back from the master page and fixture pages.
Does that make sense?

Not really HAHA! So....I have all of my looks programmed as scenes. The movements are programmed as switches. Let's say I'm static in Scene 1. Then the band goes into a jam and I engage the Circles Switch, when I do, before the lights go into the movement they spin around as if they are resetting position; then go into the circles. I have the movements programmed in the same quadrant on the graph as the scenes are.

Here is one thing I'm noticing when I program positions. The lights are facing upstage and tilted all the way up, or down if the light is ground stacked. When I program the position, it's usually far in an upper corner of the graph. After reading about centering in the manual, I'm wondering if this is the cause of my woes with the movements? I haven't been centering during the patch. Guessing that I should be, and lights should be pointed directly down or up(no pan/tilt) depending on how the are placed?
