In This forum you can discuss tips, tricks, and troubleshooting for Elation's Next Generation Compu Live software, "Compu Show".

I have a compu Cue dongle that does not seam to be working right...I am sure that its user error...Anyway am thinking of converting from compulive....To the point....Connected the compu Cue dongle to my computer where i have Compu Show installed and I cannot get it to work right. I did as the manual suggested and installed a new version of compushow before plugging the dongle in. Plugged in dongle...When I started CS it said that I need to update the firmware version on my dongle to 1.08....Okay did that...check. So I started with the demo show...plugged on of my LED lights into the dongle via DMX cable, set the address and noticed that it was recieving a signal from the demo show even if the signal was not intended for this fixture...So created a new show with the led fixture that I have (4 channels) 1-4 universe 1. Activated some of the buttons on the page...Checked dmx output window....DMX going out...Check. But fixture not doing anything...Checked setting on fixture but everything was fine. Not sure whats going....Sure its something that i did or didn't do but I am not sure what....Anybody have thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?....Also could it be the buttons on the dongle itself? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

No...Only run one universe.....Should mention that this is the first time that I have had the opportunity to use compu show with this dongle with a connected fixture. I bought it used.

@Willie...Used the male to male XLR adapter and found out that universe #1 signal is going out the dmx input plug on the dongle.

I am sure that something is just set up wrong....With a little tweaking the issue can be corrected....just dont know what to tweak. :-)

No...my patches are correct. Its strange...I was examining my Compu live dongle and the compu show cue dongle and the male and female dmx plugs are reversed...On the compu show dongle with the logo sticker on the top the output(female plug) is on the right when viewing the plug side. On my CL dongle logo sticker on the top viewing the plug side the output is on the left....... In the CS software when looking at the hardware config, with automatic config it shows a picture of the dongle on its side with the top DMX plug (DMX1)is assigned to DMX Universe 1...When looking at the actual hardware oriented just like the hardware setup picture in CS the top dmx plug is the male plug which is generally the dmx input. Even though the output should be assigned to the female DMX plug, the dongle is behaving as the software indicates that it should with uni #1 being output through the male/input plug.....That being said you can manually go into the hardware setup in CS and set the dmx universe #1 to to be output through the female DMX plug (DMX2) on the dongle which is what I am used to.....I just don't understand why the output and input on the dongle is different from the CL dongles. I hope this makes some sense.

Pulled this unit out again tonight and did some checking....I do feel that something is not right about this interface....In the CS configuration tools under test for the interface that i have "SIUDI 8A" under the information button the application indicates that I should be getting DMX Universe 1 out of the female dmx on the right when looking at the output end of the device with the logo up device and universe 2 on the left through the male xlr. As I have said earlier under the standard output config i am getting dmx universe one out of the left male xlr plug....I have tried to set the correct plug to dmx universe #1 and even though the software shows that it is set that way, there is no output through that XLR.
Yes...It is a strange issue. Its almost like something is set in the device itself and I do not know how to change it. The firmware has been updated so that is not the issue. Are there any settings or behaviors that can be set with the buttons on the device that could cause or contribute to the issue that I am experiencing? If i need to send it in what does that involve?

Thanks
A couple things that I noticed...The software is not reporting the same serial number that is printed on the device.

Also, Is it possible that somehow this unit is in stand-alone mode causing the issues? I noticed in the config tools for the device that it said something about "the device being in stand-alone mode when the stand alone mode is opened."
yes, the serial number internal is different than the one we use for the interface serial number. what is showing up is the internal chip serial number the stand alone mode is opened and operated by a seperate control system. it would prompt you if there was internal programming writen to the interface

to get it sent in, you would need to call support at 323.213.4593 and request a RMA
