hey all i am doing 25 songs for a depeche mode tribute band using compuware and they would like to know if they can create a song cue list in easy show so that way they can have everything ready to go and not have to search for songs?? here is the actual question:"since I'm trying to automate as much of the show as possible-
How do I load (or pre-load) all of the songs into ezshow so that when we start our set there's no waiting for another song's light show to cue up. There must be some way to address this...?"
anybody? jingles!! thanks!

Whats up Jingles.. Yes, this is possible.
However you will have to set up a blank page in Compu Live to trigger Easy Show.. See if any of this makes sense.

4. Easy Show Triggering
- You can open and control Easy Show files using buttons from the Compu software
- These buttons can have any information (or none) saved into them, the only thing
important is the name
- SES#START opens the Easy Show window
- SES#MYSHOW.SES loads myshow.ses file, saved in /SL2006/ directory
- SES#PLAY play
- SES#STOP stop/pause
- SES#BACK jumps back to previous Mark
- SES#NEXT jumps to next Mark
- SES#QUIT quits/closes the Easy Show window
- I recommend you create EMPTY SCENES, without link to DIMMER nor EASY STEP
(all channels OFF)
- You can do a BUTTON COMPRESSION from the PAGE SETTINGS window to
group all SES buttons together in an organized way
laptop is bacl and running. jon, brent wants to know this:
"is there a way to do a hands free show cue to specific markers via MIDI sent from an external source.
(ie- hardware sequencer/DAW starts track, which sends MTC/MIDI start info via MIDI cable to PC running Compu/EZShow)
More specifically, is there a MIDI equivalency to manual button marker commands in Compu."
please let me know asap. cause if this cannot be done he does not want to continue!!!
Ok.. to answer the 1st question..
Is there a way to do a hands free show cue to specific markers via MIDI sent from an external source.
(ie- hardware sequencer/DAW starts track, which sends MTC/MIDI start info via MIDI cable to PC running Compu/EZShow)?

The answer would be yes.. Using the set up I previosly posted, you can assing a midi note to trigger all the different buttons.
You can use MIDI to trigger anything, a scene, a switch or a cycle. MIDI can trigger any button, but remember, Easy Show will not work unless you have the PRO or 2048 version.
So you may need to set it up to trigger the cycles.

Regarding question #2
Is there a MIDI equivalency to manual button marker commands?
Huh???
MIDI is another world that we don't get to involved with. Many people want us to, but its just not a lighting guys world.
MIDI is for musicians who want to intergrate lighting or for the people who want to integrate lighting to sound, something a museum or theme park would do.
When you pick up your Compu 2048 you will be able to use your DMX Operator Pro to do triggering as well.
If you look at your DMX operator pro you will see that you have a MIDI in option.
Using a MIDI sequencer like Cue Base or other type of sequencers you can send a MIDI note that will trigger a scene on your board. The same is true with Compu Live.
But, If Brents question is correct, then what he may be asking you to do is add MIDI triggers to every scene you programmed.

Well thats the beauty of MIDI.
It can be anything that you can assing a note to. Most of the times people use keyboards because MIDI is created using keyboard keys.
But now you have multiple methods of sending a MIDI note with your instruments. Like I said its something you would need to get involved with, and I'm not the guy for that road.
i really don't need to right now learn midi. i am just a programmer. but i heard a while back that prince or the artist formerly known as, whatever right. he wanted to go out on tour and have all his lights run on midi and eliminate the the light guy at the desk hitting buttons. so like no light board operator. he was asking matt mills the LP from 3DD to do this but he didn't want too and turned down the job. smart move. just thought i'd share.
