Having Trouble Getting 2nd Universe To Work

Until now, I have never had a use to run a 2nd universe. I know there is a simple step that I must not be doing.

I have a Compu Cue dongle. I just patched in a couple of Design Spot 250's. I selected Universe 2 while patching in the fixture. I am using a gender changer, and running it directly into the Design Spots. Everything is also on the proper channels. The LED panel on the front of the light is flashing, and indicating it is not getting DMX.

Is there a button on the dongle or something I may be missing?

have you gone into the start up settings and adjusted the universes?

up top, there is controler...click it, bellow there is "software preferences" click there, a menu will open up Click on "output hardware" It should have selected "auto detection" if not select it, if it does unselect it and re select it (will reset the controller) or manualy you can set the universes

Do you know of a quick way to test the hardware? I'm having suspicions about the adapter I am using, but I want to test the output on the dongle also.

Universe 1 works without any problems.

run the tools aplication in the compushow file on your cDrive....re-write the firmware

Do I do this while the dongle is plugged in and the program is running? Or do I just go straight into this application? Thanks.

I have heard that you change the configuration in the software to either 512 in or universe 2 out. How do I do that? If that doesn't work I will call in to support. Thanks.

Okay, this is how I got it to work. I went into "output hardware" with the dongle connected. I turned off "auto detection". I then manually selected my interface, and set both 1 and 2 to output.

Once I did that, both universes worked fine. It seems "auto detection" defaults to dmx input.
