Linking a t16f with a t20f. HELP Please!! :O

I bought an Elation T16F a few years ago and just recently picked up the newer model, the T20F. I thought I could just link them together and use one footswitch however I'm having a really hard time getting anything to work. Can you please tell me if this is possible and if so what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
