I didn't imply that you were interested in theatre lighting, so sorry if you took it that way. Look at major tours, they are all using black color lights, be it movers, LEDs, and/or conventionals. You can even check the photos on Elation's website displaying there products, you can't see the fixtures, simply what they do.
I also brought up theatre, because Vegas and Broadway spend a lot of money every year and are extremely interested in the LED movement thanks to a lot of pressure put on them by green movements. You can't dim a CFL for example. Plus, the light quality it outputs is horrible.
The Opti Par Tri listing at $999.99 is priced out of the price range that most people in clubs can afford. It simply wouldn't make sense for Elation to pay to have the Opti Par Tri finished in polish, and then have to re-certify it because of material change, for a few orders. If the professional space wanted a polished light, everyone would make one. We would see polished movers and polished lekos, etc etc. We don't, so that means there must not be a demand.
I also am in now way inferring that you aren't a professional, sorry if you took it that way. I work everything from little club shows, to national acts, to national tours, to international tours, from community and school theatre to off Broadway and Broadway shows and tours, to little corporate meetings and parties all the way up to major events like Liberty Medal, debates, and election coverage/rallies. I am actually typing this from a meeting between Barr and Teva Pharmaceuticals about the integration of the two companies. I have seen and done it a lot, and consider each and everyone of those jobs professional in some sense.
The only place outside of Kenny Rogers that I have seen polished anything is in clubs/bar bands, and that is a fading trend now too. So again, I am sorry if you took it the wrong way, I am just stating based on experiences, conversations with experts, and what the market shows.
