Opti Tri Par Failure

Hi,

I own 4 Opti Tri Pars and so far have been completely amazed by their capabilities. Recently when setting up, when one of these pars was plugged into power and it started smoking. It was quickly unplugged but I'm pretty sure the damage has already been done. We purchased these lights through an overstock distributor so I do not think they are covered under warranty. I have two questions. First, where can I confirm the warranty status on these lights? Second, if the lamp is not covered under warranty I was going to look into repairing the light myself, what could possibly cause the light to start smoking when plugged into power?
