Hi skap and welcome to the forums.
I can't speak from a standpoint of the DS 300 Pros since I don't own/haven't used any. However, I will be more then willing to give my opinion on electronic ballasts.
Electronic Ballasts are great for a few things. First, they weigh less then there magnetic counterparts, often times a substantial amount less. They also have the nice feature of auto sensing. They automatically they can change for different voltages and frequencies automatically without switching of internal wiring or more ballasts. Lastly, they are more efficient due to their nature then magnetic.
Magnetic Ballast have been around a lot longer (about 70+ years vs 20+ years or so for electronic). They are also much more robust then electronic. Electronic basically live their lives a few nano seconds away from death. One part fails, it fails completely. Magnetic give much more warning before they fail, they can also take a beating and still keep working since they are simpler in design and a lot less parts.
Pros and cons to both. Electronic will always fail at one point or another however, magnetic can last forever (basically just copper spoils).
