RFX Midibuddy Foot Switch issues

I am a new user to the forums and have a quick question about Midi.

I am the proud owner of the Elation Stage Setter 8 DMX controllor. I recently purchased a RFX MidiBuddy Foot Switch to operate the Stage Setter with my feet in real time on stage. When I connect the MidiBuddy to the Stage Setter 8 and set them to the appropriate midi channels (I tried all 16 channels) The Midi LED on the display of the Stage Setter 8 blinks to indicate that a signal is being sent to the device. However there are no changes made to the Stage Setter 8.

Has anyone else had this problem or maybe have a solution for me? I would hate to have bought a midipedal for this application and then find out it won't work.
